This is an unfair argument. American Muslims are shy, retiring and moderate — the reason they want to build the mosque near Ground Zero is to express their condemnation of the heinous 9/11/2001 terrorist act.
And don’t argue with them or they’ll do it again.
Gimme a camera and I’ll give you something a LOT harsher...
During the muslim invasion of India beginning in the 8th century through the 17 century, the muslims made it a habit to build a mosque at every sensitive location revered by those they conquered. That is the same reason they want to build a mosque at ground zero. It will be a monument for the destruction of life and property by soldiers of allah shouting allahu akbar.
If we allow this to happen, we will have given up what little sovereignty we have over our own country.
I heard they are going to call this a ‘muslim center’ and it will be open to all and all will be welcome. I would love to put on a pair of short shorts and a halter top and stroll all over their mosque to see just how welcome I would be.
It would almost be worth the 30+ lbs it would take for me to lose to do it. haha.
I wouldn’t call it harsh.

I would also like to mention a rarity- it might seem, of some decent investigative reporting by CNN. I concede, before the flak starts, I may be a little naive. Their reporter, Deborah Feyrick interviewed Sharif El-Gamal, one of the two main promoters of the mosque. There appears to be two segments, one with Wolf Blitzer and another with Campbell Brown.
On the Blitzer segment, Deborah showed a certain amount of concern, for the feelings of those who have members killed by that wicked deed on 9/11. The more her voice had tones of real empathy for the objections, the calmer old El-Gamal got. He was talking about bringing Islam closer together with society etc.
I had a chilling reminder of over twenty years ago on a little excursion to my native country, England. I chanced into a little pub called the "Railway Arms" in Chelmsford, Essex. The television was on. A man was pleading with an imam or Islamic person. The Islamists wanted to build a mosque within a 1000 year old English village. He pointed out to the Islamist, there was lots of countryside around to build.
The cold calculated Islamist used the laws point by point to tell him, it would be built. The man, with a blue blazer and quite cultured, mentioned the 10,000 visitors to the area viewing the future site of the mosque. It would be the death knell of the village he said.
Later, I learned the sewerage system broke down in the village and persons did what they had to do in ditches.
I never found out about the mosque, for I was sickened at what a turn my country had taken. The icy matter of fact disposition of that man, who wanted to destroy the village, was compatible with this man, Sharif El-Gamal.
Who sold that property for mosque building is what I want to know. Ground zero is a sacred property to Americans and only thing that should be built there is a shrine for the thousands who lost their lives.
Ummm....have you looked at his other stuff? In one of them, he goes off on religion in general and “the two fascist religions — Christianity and Islam” in particular. I was also treated to his opinion that I, as a religious believer, am “the scum of the earth.”
He is spot on about the mosque at ground zero — you know what they say about a stopped clock. But in his own way, in spite of his countless allusions to the rational, scientific, liberal, democratic basis of his own positions, he is as intolerant as what he loathes and attacks.
Sorry Pat, the other scum and I will look out for ourselves.
Unfortunately, the rag heads will win, and a mosque will be built ... after all we don’t won’t to piss off the very people that caused the opportunity for them to build.
I just can’t understand how we, as Americans, can allow this to happen. I lost a cousin in the twin towers. How can we let the very people that cause this disaster build a shrine commemorate their victory on the very grounds that hold so many memories of our dead relatives and friends.
I thought this guy was an atheist or something. Just heard the name before. Thanks for that bit of information.
Look at this picture. This is the best pictorial expression that I know of islaam’s contemptuous attitude to ‘conquered territory’ when building a mosque. It should be sent to the New York mayor and all his supporters.

It is very simple.....
Americans have little knowledge of history of islam.
Before 911, just 9 years ago, very few Americans paid
any attention to islamists.
But history is your best teacher. All one has to do is
study how muslims have operated since it was initiated 13 centuries ago. There is plenty of history staring you in the eye.
