New Jersey Governor Christie Vetoes Bill Sending Millions to Planned Parenthood

Trenton, NJ (LifeNews.com) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie won the praise of pro-life advocates today by vetoing a bill that would restore the family planning funds his administration cut from the state budget because of deep economic troubles. Although it doesn't fund abortions directly, the money goes to the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

The funds go to 58 family planning clinics but Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion chain, runs 29 of the facilities.

Christie thinks there's little reason to send the abortion centers $7.5 million when the state currently faces an $11 billion deficit.

He said the "unprecedented financial difficulties" of the state made it so the money was better off not spent.

Elections have consequences...now watch the usual trolls rush in to bash Christie for “not being conservative enough.”

The libs have been running ads and commercials telling him to restore the funding for women’s health services.

Of course, no mention of Planned Parenthood in their ads.

Thank you Governor Christie. He is ignoring the left and keeping his promises.

Finally, a Republican who not only resists the trap of playing to the moderates/leftists but actually advocates a conservative course. And he's making it work .... and his constituents love it!

RINOs take note.

He said the "unprecedented financial difficulties" of the state made it so the money was better off not spent.

He should have said "Why the Hell are we giving these baby-killers tax dollars." No public funds should go to PP or any type of "reproductive" program or pseudo-abortion organization.

I’m liking his style.

I’ve always thought the government has no business in abortions. If the libs really want them, give these murderers money from their own pockets, don’t pick mine.

He is doing what we need to do at the national level. I wonder how many hundreds of billions we would save cutting off funding to the left. All of it. Schools, universities, planned parenthood, acorn, community activists, press, environmentalists, lawyers, etc.

No America, you cannot have him yet. There is much, much work for him to do in New Jersey! When he hits his two term limit, we will reluctantly share him.

Don’t be surprised if Christie recasts this strictly as financial decision playing down Pro-Life concerns. The results are what matter, however.

Governor Christie is doing what used to be much more commonplace in America. He is standing up for the taxpayer. The libs/MSM have made it almost taboo to question whether or not a certain government program is a wise use of taxpayer dollars. God bless him, and I would support his for a presidential run. Of course the voters in New Jersey may want him there for a few more years.

He was a prosecutor. He has outstanding economic team which is a great surprise and much appreciated.

He gets the dems to go along with him because they know he’s right. We are broke!

Cuts have to be made.

It's best that he makes this a financial decision, and avoids a run-in with federal judges over acting to restrict abortion.

I am impressed!\

“Christie thinks there’s little reason to send the abortion centers $7.5 million when the state currently faces an $11 billion deficit. “

Besides, “famliy planning” is a PERSONAL matter.

I’m not interestedin funding their “mistakes” via abortion.

Love it!
