I like revolvers too, but isn't there just as much chance of an external moving part getting hung up on something as would be the case with a semi-automatic?

Well, I think that shrouded or so-called "hammerless" revolvers are more ideal for this sort of counter-ambush than a classic Colt Police Positive. The reciprocating slide and ejection cycle of the auto are harder to obviate.
