Manmade global warming, like so many other social and economic issues, has become hopelessly politicized. Each side has dug in its heels and has accused the other of acting irresponsibly and dishonestly. For the believers, the other side has become the equivalent of Holocaust deniers; and for the doubters, the other side has become a cult intent on manipulating mankind to remake the world in some sort of natural Utopian image.
The divide has become so great, it seems virtually impossible to bridge the gap. However, Im not writing for Ricochet merely to outline problems; Im here to offer real solutions. And Im not just blowing carbon dioxide.
Lets assume that a third of the worlds population really believes mankind has the power to adjust the Earths thermostat through lifestyle decisions. The percentage may be higher or lower, but, for the sake of this exercise, lets put it at one-third. Now it seems to me these people have a special obligation to change their lives dramatically because they truly believe catastrophe lies ahead if they dont. The other two-thirds are merely ignorant, so they can hardly be blamed for their actions.
Now, if those True Believers would give up their cars and big homes and truly change the way they live, I cant imagine that there wouldnt be some measurable impact on the Earth in just a few short years. Im not talking about recycling Evian bottles, but truly simplifying their lives. Even if you were, say, a former Vice President, you would give up extra homes and jets and limos. I see communes with organic farms and lives freed from polluting technology.
Then, when the rest of us saw the results of their actionsyou know, the earth cooling, oceans lowering, polar bears frolicking and glaciers growingwe would see the error of our ways and join the crusade voluntarily and enthusiastically.
How about it? Why wait for governments to change us? You who have already seen the light have it within your grasp to act in concert with each other and change the world forever. And I hate to be a scold, but you have a special obligation to do it because you believe it so strongly. Then, instead of looking at isolated tree rings and computer models, youd have real results to point to, and even the skeptics would see the error of their ways and join you.
So start Tweeting each other and get the ball rolling. Well anxiously await results. See, I told you I had the solution. My work here is done.
But of course the majority of greenies do exactly the opposite of what Sajak is calling for. They instead hold massive concerts with bands flying in on private jets and increase traffic tenfold. They power up their computers and type annoying greenie messages and arguments everyday and night.
If these greenies really believe as they claim then they should just all do away with their carbon footprints completely (if you know what I mean) and save us all from their annoying dreams of fascism.
The leftist elite think they deserve big home and jets.
Their position entitles them..It’s the rest of us that need to suffer.
We can post Ricochet? Cool!
Where is the real per reviewed science to prove we have “Made Made Global Warming” Pat?
If you could see him you’d notice the tongue in his cheek.
Pat’s just trying to atone for all the global warming caused by Vanna White.
I don’t see the keyword HUMOR and even humor perpetuates the myth...
Vanna ain’t heatin’ things up the way she used to thirty years ago.
They both understand the meaning of control.
‘polar bears frolicking”
This thread was worth it just for that line from Pat Sajak.
Really, rational idea?
Here’s a thought:
1) AGW is a scam.
2) Even if AGW is real, no matter what we do will change or affect/effect it. The AnnointedIdiot’s own spokesman on this has said that if the US ended all uses of fossil fuels, shut down all industries, all stopped driving cars and trucks, returned to the days of the Caveman, AGW and carbon output would not be changed in large part.
3) This world has gone through a number of periods of AGW and AGC.....in other words, its the planets natural cycle.
4) Did I forget to mention that there is no rational thought or an idea as it relates to AGW....its a scam. =.=
Some people simply denote sarcasm with /s....try it next time. :)
Sajak’s column was the sarcasm
Unless you think he was serious about Polar Bears frolicking.

He and our Numbah 1 news anchor in Honolulu, Joe Moore, were good buddies in Vietnam and have frequently done plays together here in Honolulu. They've done the Odd Couple as well as a few original plays that Moore has authored.
They've done a few little bits here and there that get pasted into the opening of the news from time to time.
All around good guy.
