N.Korean Leaflets Call for Ouster of Kim Jong-il

Leaflets calling for the overthrow of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's regime were scattered in Hoeryong, North Hamgyong Province in mid-June, the Asahi Shimbun reported Friday. North Korea deemed the incident a threat to national security and launched an intensive investigation to find out who printed and distributed them after collecting scores of leaflets between June 24 and 25, the Japanese daily said.

"The General is not the bright sun of the 21st century, but has only brought us darkness," it quoted the leaflets as saying. "Let's end the age of Kim Jong-il. We want rice."

North Korean authorities believe the leaflets were printed and distributed in the North rather than by South Korean civic groups. They have incinerated those that were found and dispatched an entire unit of security agents to find out whether any locals still have them. "Sources said the fliers indicate a growing dissatisfaction with Kim among the North Korean population," the Asahi added.

Meanwhile, Daily NK, which specializes in news about North Korea, reports that large amounts of newly printed W5,000 bills were found in Chongjin, North Hamgyong Province in late June with words criticizing the Kim Jong-il regime. Printed on the bills was the name of a group calling itself "Exiled Activists for the Salvation of the Nation" and the notes were scattered around a statue of Kim in Chongjin, it said.

...and so it ‘begins’, although one has to believe that there is and has been widespread disgust with the NK regime.

Sooner or later, something has got to give. If I lived in or had family in Seoul, I would move.

It takes real bravery to do something like this,
and desperation.

I would like to see how Dear Leader would fare if not surrounded by his army of guards. If he were to be out with the public without the guns to protect him, I wouldn’t give much for Dear Leader’s prospects. I hope he ends up like
Ceaucescu.

Well, if he sold his soul to the Devil, then it is likely that he will live because the Devil gives full value. Chances are though, his ‘dynasty’ will end at his death.

The Chinese tightening the screws. They know just how messy things will get.

How will they engineer a reconciliation with S Korea eating the costs?
