Jan Schill has a message for voters in Oklahoma choosing a district judge in elections on Tuesday -- do not vote for my dad.

She and her husband have taken out newspaper ads urging voters not to vote for John Mantooth, who they believe had a lousy record as a judge and does not deserve the job.

WOW,
Perhaps “Father Of The Year Award” would be appropriate, if his daughter is the straight shooter she appears to be!

One might be led think he’s raised an honest daughter. But there are two ways to read this story...

Maybe she got it from her mother.

Is she still upset that she never got that pony for her fifth birthday?

“Maybe she got it from her mother.”

Yep, I thought of that just before I hit the ‘post’ button. LOL
but I didn’t want to introduce more speculative conjectures.

He must be a real prickle if his own daughter would rake him over the coals like that in public.

Does anyone know if the election involves party affiliation? And if yes, what party the father belongs to?

But Schill and her husband Andrew, a lawyer, said ... "It's not the (strained) relationship that prompted this. ... It's his record. This father-daughter thing is interesting, but that's not the story," Andrew Schill said.

They tried to get the newspapers to run a story about Mantooth, but were turned down, so they ran the quarter-page ads and launched a website: www.donotvoteformydad.com.

Mantooth [ran] campaign ads showing himself as a family man and a father of three daughters with grandchildren ... "He has a relationship with none of them," Schill said.

It's about his record, but they want you to know he "has no relationship" with any of his children. ::snort::

My guess - Dad is conservative, and daughter is a raving lunatic vindictive liberal monster.

Why? Because liberals don't turn against liberals, and conservatives give reasons for things instead of slanderous bumper stickers. Since neither of those things are happening - insane liberal hate is, once again, the answer.

I don’t care about the politics.

Unless dad has a surname like “Schickelgruber” or “Dugashvili” this is wrong.

Parental alienation syndrome is a very real condition. The daughter may still carry the resentment of her parents divorce.

"My guess - Dad is conservative, and daughter is a raving lunatic vindictive liberal monster."

Maybe it's more than just politics.

"Mr. Schill (the son-in-law of Mr. Mantooth), then tells a pretty interesting holiday story. He says that a few days before Christmas 2004, Mr. Mantooth arrived at Schill’s law office with a golden basket, and then quickly departed. Schill peered through the basket, and found a number of goodies, including a box of chocolates.

Schill decided, as many of us did, that he would partake of the candy before sharing the rest with his family. Imagine his chagrin when the chocolate filling had been replaced with dead worms and weevils. Mantooth then called Schill’s office the next day to ask him not to eat the chocolate, that they were a ‘special’ gift for his daughter."

They seem quite the dysfunctional family.

**************

This kind of knife in the back, barring some moral horror of a parent, is always regretted later and can never be taken back.

I am always more inclined to think the character flaw is with the family member who initiates the defamation, rather than the target.

OK - I now read the specific kookery.

It appears to be game over for these people anyway, as far as any civil, far less cordial, relations.

And, you may be correct in many, if not most, situations. Having come from a family where the father was...whole-heartedly out for only #1, were he to be in a position where he could be put in such a great position of power that he could ruin other peoples’ lives, I would have done the same. As it was, I only had to watch the damage he did to his little circle of influence.

What if Malia or Sasha Obama had been grown women when their father sought public office. Would doing the same have been wrong for them?
