Archbishop Dolan is a coward and a hypocrite. What are New York Catholics doing about it?

44 second commercial for the news channel and then you still have to register.

How about a summary?

The parish is under the jurisdiction of the NY Province of the Society of Jesus. As such it is not actually answerable to the Archbishop of NY. My brother in law and his partner attended Xavier for some years before moving to Fla. While I have no problems with my wife’s brother, he’s a good guy and so is his partner of 20 years, I must admit to being uncomfortable when attending Xavier with them. Much more so than walking the Village or even visiting Provincetown in the summer. Several times he’d have Christmas Eve and the family would go to Xavier.I would instead take my wife and daughter to Mass at my old parish on 22nd Street, Epiphany. It was upsetting in a way since I’d spent 4 good years attending Xavier HS. Hence my tag.

I watched the Michael Vooris video at pewsitter.com about the NYC parish and Archbishop Dolan.

Based on my observation of his behavior as archbishop in Milwaukee, I consider Dolan an orthodox pastor. For example, there was a woman in the diocese who was involved in the whole woman ordination nonsense. Dolan corresponded with her, privately, for some time before she went ahead with the “ordination.” At that point he told her that she was excommunicated and referred her situation to the proper authority in Rome.

His style is not confrontational and many here wished he would have done more to expunge the Weakland legacy. But his concern is foremost for the souls of the sinners.

Based upon his appearance on Father Groschel’s EWTN show, in which Courage was openly discussed and lauded by both Dolan and Groschel, I think Vooris may be hasty. I would give the Archbishop some time to win over to orthodoxy as many as possible in a very tough situation.

And certainly to call Dolan a coward and a hypocrite is a most uncharitable reaction. He’s been in NYC about one year. He has taken on the secularists strongly. Give him some time to deal with the heterodox, even if you would personally use different tactics.
