Like Adam Clayton Powell, he will be dismissed from Congress, but allowed to run for office again next election.

According to the report, Rangel will admit “ethical wrongdoing” as part of the deal. There’s no word on whether he will step down from Congress or not seek re-election. Multiple challengers are running against Rangel in the Democratic primary, which isn’t until September 14.

This is, of course, Adam Clayton Powell's old district. The morals of this country have sharply deteriorated since that time. So temporary ouster from congress would be the maximum penalty, not a likely penalty.

Hell, we have an impeached former federal judge who ousted for bribery and malfeasance serving in congress when he should be serving in jail. Rangell has done nothing that bad. Who can name the disgraced former judge routinely reelected to congress?
