Marine General Confirms That Americans Fighting Feminist War in Afghanistan
The Spearhead ^ | July 29 2010 | Welmer

Posted on 07/29/2010 1:55:16 PM PDT by Christian Cage

I long thought that the feminism that is often used to justify our presence in Afghanistan long after the failure to capture or kill Osama bin-Laden – the longest war in American history – was a cover for something else. However, with Hillary Clinton in charge of the State Department, and now this outrageous statement, I’m not so sure any longer. Although Americans have long justified violence on behalf of women, for example by lynching innocent men – both black and white – in the old South, beating and shooting men in their homes over domestic disputes and other such displays of “righteousness,” Afghanistan may be our first explicitly feminist war.

While plenty of Americans may feel with some justification that Afghan women deserve better lives than they have, it might surprise them to know that most Afghan women despise foreign troops, including Americans. Here’s a passage from a Kipling poem, The Young British Soldier, about war in Afghanistan in another era:

When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains, And the women come out to cut up what remains, Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains An’ go to your Gawd like a soldier. Go, go, go like a soldier, Go, go, go like a soldier, Go, go, go like a soldier, So-oldier of the Queen!

Furthermore, given the sky-high divorce rate in military families and the little the US armed forces do to ameliorate this problem (one might say that it is actually encouraged by policies), it doesn’t seem that our own government or armed forces actually care all that much about our troops, either.

So why, now, do American boys have a dog in this fight?

Wasn't that what Captain Brittles and 1SG Quincannon were fighting for in She Wore A Yellow Ribbon?

I thought the Korean war was the longest war in American history.

Korean War the longest...

Technically you’re right. I believe the Army was still awarding right shoulder (combat) patches for Korea up into the 80’s. (Anyone — feel free to correct me on that.)

Most wars have an Axis Sally telling the troops it's not worth fighting for.

A country where every decision is governed by political correctness cannot possibly win any war that it is foolhardy enough to engage in.

A quick glance at a few pages doesn’t reveal any red flags.

So why, now, do American boys have a dog in this fight?

In early June it was reported that the United States has discovered nearly $1 trillion in untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan, far beyond any previously known reserves and enough to fundamentally alter the Afghan economy and perhaps the Afghan war itself, according to senior American government officials. The previously unknown deposits — including huge veins of iron, copper, cobalt, gold and critical industrial metals like lithium — are so big and include so many minerals that are essential to modern industry that Afghanistan could eventually be transformed into one of the most important mining centers in the world, the United States officials believe.

When we leave Afghanistan, the Taliban and al Queda will be able to sell these minerals to fund terrorism for a century.

It was once about spreading Liberty, but with Liberty becoming less known or cared for here at home by the day...what is it we´re doing again?

Awe Hecate, I'll gander a guess OneDoug.
Building a fiscally "conservative" empire for Dick Cheney's sexually dysfunctional daughter and her "partner" to inherit?
Funny how nature always seems to have the last laugh when a society chooses to abominate it -  Not with a bang but a whimper.

“A country where every decision is governed by political correctness cannot possibly win any war that it is foolhardy enough to engage in.”

I think it can be all stated in fewer words.

Political Correctness = Denial of Reality
