Arizona Tea Party Groups Stand Together to Endorse JD Hayworth

Phoenix, AZ (AUGUST 2) - A coalition of Arizona state-wide, Tea Party and like-minded Conservative groups came together today, to announce they are all endorsing JD Hayworth to be the next United States Senator from Arizona.

Lee Earle, member of the conservative, AZ2010 Project group stated, "J.D. has listened to more Arizona citizens than any other candidate."

Arizona's state Tea Party Patriots coordinator, Pam Stevenson stated, "There is no question of J.D.'s conservative values. The American Conservative Union gave him a life-time rating of 97.6%."

In part, the Groups' joint endorsement reads:

"This Senate candidate is Mr. John D. Hayworth."

"We, as conservative leaders and individuals in Arizona, representing thousands of members in our groups, are looking forward to supporting Mr. Hayworth's campaign in the general election," stated Annette McHugh, leader of the Tea Party Patriots of Glendale, AZ, and member of the Arizona Tea Party Network which has over 4,000 members across Arizona.

There is a disturbing trend occurring within the Tea Party movement of groups endorsing candidates. The Tea Party movement was formed to return the country to the Constitution, support the limited government principles instilled in the Constitution by the founding fathers and confront those issues that threaten the Constitution. It was not formed to endorse candidates. Doing so only creates divisiveness within the Tea Party and enables the Tea Party movement to be incrementally folded into the OP(formerly the GOP)

Unfortunately, we might wind up with Senator Glassman. :(

On the contrary, the Tea Party has a role to fill as a sort of national Constitutional Caucus in supporting those candidates in every state who most closely adhere to Constitutional principles. There is no coherent, grassroots, national organization providing this sort of electoral guidance and advocacy at present.

Envision the Conservative Party of New York writ large, imho. The objective is to shift the goalposts in a conservative direction as much as possible with an *electable* candidate in any given race. If the Republican Party cannot or will not nominate candidates fulfilling such an objective, then the strong possibility of elevating one of our own number exists, as has been the case in New York.

In not just New York but the northeast in general and much of the west coast, this may not lead to support of candidates that fit every single ideal, but the purpose of advancing Constitutional conservatism by incremental shifting of the national discourse will be served.

In those contests with a proven strong conservative orientation, for instance South Carolina, there is no reason whatsoever not to support that individual who espouses every conservative, Constitutionalist, Tea Party ideal. Again, this serves to shift the entire discourse rightward. Lindsay Graham will be primaried. There is no excuse for his presence in the Senate from such a conservative state. None.

That is the objective as best I am able to determine, and I support it.

Progressive-ist McCain has demonstrated his contempt for the constitution via stances on illegals, and McCain-Fiengold.

He is responsible for giving us Obama. A Tea Party endorsement for any candidate to oppose him is called for, and way overdue.

"The Tea Party movement was formed to return the country to the Constitution, support the limited government principles instilled in the Constitution by the founding fathers and confront those issues that threaten the Constitution. It was not formed to endorse candidates."

Well, who do you suppose would be returning the country to the Constitution, the limited government principles instilled in the Constitution by the founding Fathers & confront those issues that threaten the Constitution?

Do we wave a magic wand to make that happen? We have to elect the people to do that!!! It's not going to happen by magic. SO - you pick the CONSERVATIVE candidates to support & get them elected to do their job.

That's exactly what the Tea Party groups are doing - uniting to get the Conservatives elected!!

“Unfortunately, we might wind up with Senator Glassman.”

So what's the difference between Juan and Glassman?

My guess is that Juan already has his payoff list operational, so he can therefore, escalate his corruption and treason more efficiently than a new comer.

You can stick a fork in JD. The informercial was the final straw.

I sent him $50 in the spring, but it's time to move on to supporting conservatives like Angle, Bachmann, Toomey, O'Donnell, Haley, Martinez, West, anyone who wins the Michigan GOP Gov. bid (except Snyder), etc. who can win.

Outstanding. Arizona voters now have a clear choice between a conservative patriot who loves his country and the ultimate Washington insider who has sold it out time and again. McCain must be retired, whether it is through voting for an opponent in the primary, or withholding votes in a general election. He has done far too much harm to the conservative movement to allow him to continue in politics.

This is a replay of the Specter - Toomey primary in Pennsylvania. Don’t screw it up.

I could swear that I read somewhere right here on FR that McCain featured that very same company's infomercial!! Have never seen it again & no one is mentioning it..

Does anyone remember??? If so - it needs to be talked about, if it's true.

I would love to see JD win, not because he has a great record (he was real big on earmarks and had more than his share of shady dealings), because I want McCain out and see JD as the lesser of two evils.

But, let's face facts and poll results. JD’s candidacy is as dead as Chuck DeVore’s. It's time to move on and support conservatives that actually have a chance of winning.

Why would McCain be in that informercial? Cindy has enough money to last 100 lifetimes.

We have to elect the people to do that!!!

Fine but support candidates outside the scope of the Tea party.

I totally agree with you. I am a member of a local tea party and we are EXTREMELY careful not to endorse any candidates. We only state their positions and let people decide.
