U.S. government scientists on Thursday reduced their forecast for the 2010 Atlantic-Caribbean hurricane season, saying that while it will still be active, there were fewer storms in June and July than expected.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said it now expects 14 to 20 tropical storms, with eight to 12 of those strengthening into hurricanes, during the six-month season that began on June 1.

It forecast that four to six of these would become major hurricanes.

Before the season began, NOAA had forecast 14 to 23 tropical storms, with eight to 14 developing into hurricanes, and three to seven becoming major hurricanes.

Isn’t this like the fourth “We predict this will be the worst hurricane season ever” year in a row?

It's like the old Indian rain dances. The whole tribe would dance until it finally rained, then nod their heads and say, "See?"

NOAA predicts that there will be hurricanes during hurricane season this year?

Their moms probably think they are freakin' geniuses.

NOAA was also talking about maybe the 2010-11 Winter to be the warmest..La Nina, blah, blah. I can see it now Jan. 15th 2011 Large Snowstorm hits I-95 Corridor, storm was UNEXPECTED. Bastardi was right , privatize the whole deal and be done with it. The National Hurricane Center seems to be the only outfit that takes pride in their jobs. The local NWS offices are filled with C student flunkies who browse porn all day(I actually knew someone who worked out of the Cleveland office and its true)

The experts said "Colin" would remain a storm up through Bermuda!

Now look: they failed. It got blown apart. Now they say it may form again.

Fact: they can't tell what it'll do three days out.

WHY SHOULD WE BELIEVE THE 'EXPERTS' WHO PREDICT THE CLIMATE THIRTY YEARS OUT, WHEN THE 'EXPERTS' CANNOT DO IT THREE DAYS OUT?

I think they may be right, but they have to change the rules and deem the hurricane season to go from June 2010 to November 2011. Yeah, we’ll just bail out the hurricane season.

This will be another failed Bush hurricane season. We’re still trying to recover.

If I had a buck for every talking head MSM jackass who offered up dire predictions of the oil spill and hurricanes, I’d be as rich as Soros

No doubt that Global Warming has caused this decrease in storms. But in fact if we get more storms that will also be caused by Global Warming.

The NOAA modifies their hurricane prediction throughout hurricane season, making their final prediction astonishingly accurate each year.

Reminds me of the way I interpret simple temperature predictions. I read what the pundits tell me it’ll be on any given day and deduct 5-8 degrees.

90% of the time (whether it be summer or winter), that’s an exact indication of what the temperature will actually be.
