In the midst of a leaked Department of Homeland Security immigration memo that made it to Senator Chuck Grassley, Iowa Republican, outlining ways for the Obama Administration to give amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, the Center for Immigration Studies yesterday posted a letter that was authored on June 11, 2010 by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Union President Chris Crane titled: "VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE IN ICE DIRECTOR JOHN MORTON AND ODPP ASSISTANT DIRECTOR PHYLLIS COVEN."

I have the pleasure of working with many of these fine men and women, and they tell me that with very rare exception, they're prohibited from enforcing the vast majority of immigration laws.
In fact, they spend most of their time tasked with things that don't have anything to do with ICE... gathering intel for drug busts, weapons, etc.
Right now, they're essentially “floaters” who provide additional manpower to other LE Agencies.
‘Cuz we don't have a major problem with illegal immigration I guess...
Remember in November alert!
This will take more than getting a majority in the HofR.
This will require some dismantling of federal agencies and starting over.
More from the article:
Two bullet points in the letter stick out:
While ICE reports internally that more than 90 percent of ICE detainees are first encountered in jails after they are arrested by local police for criminal charges, ICE senior leadership misrepresents this information publicly in order to portray ICE detainees as being non-criminal in nature to support the Administration’s position on amnesty and relaxed security at ICE detention facilities.
The majority of ICE ERO Officers are prohibited from making street arrests or enforcing United States immigration laws outside of the institutional (jail) setting. This has effectively created “amnesty through policy” for anyone illegally in the United States who has not been arrested by another agency for a criminal violation.
You know I really believe that the left is so ingrained in the actual daily working of government that we could have 100% in the senate and house and it wouldn’t make a bit of difference. They would still do what they do when they want it and very little would change.
From the janitors to the highest level of government workers all need to be swept away.
If you had the congress and the WH, you could fire all of the political appointments and put civil servants in charge as acfting until you get all of your people in. Fire those who refuse to do their jobs and the word will get out. Civil servants will act for personal job security. In the case of the state department, close it down and start all over.
Just like "rules of engagement" forced on military by an elite ruling class of lawyers, both the detention and arrest policies of ICE are a result of that same take over
John Morton (and Coven) is just another lawyer MISrunning a enforcement or intelligence agency.
As are lawyers Napolitan (DHS), Bersin (Border & Custom Patrol), Panetta (CIA), Michael Leiter (Director of National Counterterroism Center)...
And at the top we have lawyers like Obama & Biden heading this regime.
These agencies have become over run with lawyers, at the exclusion of the real professionals who can can do law enforcement and intelligence.
It will take enactment & enforcement of tough rules against law degrees substituting for actual job experience, in those agencies!
Fire the bastard!
Agreed; send them all packing.
