If the Obama administration truly forced a minimum of a 5yr lease on people in the Cash for Clunkers program, then THAT is criminal.

I thought it was for buying, not leasing.
The only good thing about the Cash-For-Clunkers program was all the O’Bummer bumper stickers it got off the road!!!
That has to be one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen. (But at least it was so long ago they can still use the title for a movie about Teddy!)
Sort of like the bad mortgage loans that sank the real estate market and a large part of our economy.

Leasing is for the less credit-worthy these days.
If all those cars get repo’d then at least we’ll have our normal supply of used vehicles again.
CARS allowed leasing, and it required leases of 5 years or longer.
Can’t blame the long term leases on the dealers.
I would never do one myself, but we have commissioned sales people in our organization who like the tax benefits of leasing because it allows them to trade in their cars more often.
I had a conversation with one once who told me it was very important to their image.
I rolled my eyes and told them I was in purchasing for a living and was most impressed with sales people who drove 10 year old cars with 150,000 miles or more on them, bought suits off the rack at J.C. Penney's or, better yet, casual clothes at Gabriel Brothers. and concentrated on giving me great service and quality at a very competitive price.
LOL! I actually have the word in with one of our local dealers to call me when the repos start coming in.
There are many that would now have used vehicles that have nothing -there are many after market businesses and jobs that would have been supplemented that now do not exist!
The government meddles in that which it has no business nor capability!

Thank you for appreciating it -that which is fundamental is necessarily simple versus that which is contrived. It is too bad that this and many simple fundamental truths are being subverted by progressive leftist propaganda...
