WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sen. Al Franken apologized Thursday for being rude to Sen. Mitch McConnell as the Senate's top Republican was winding up a solemn debate on the nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court.

Franken, a liberal Democrat from Minnesota, was presiding over the Senate as McConnell explained his opposition to President Barack Obama's high-court nominee.

A Senate GOP aide said Franken made theatrical gestures and whispered under his breath as the Kentucky senator spoke. It was distracting enough that McConnell went up to the former comedian afterward and said, "This isn't 'Saturday Night Live,' Al."

If this seat was not stolen, we wouldn’t have hussein obamacare being rammed down our throats.

Actually, we still would. The reconciliation trick only required 51 votes.

I’ve seen no evidence of an apology, only the spokesperson saying it happened. Why no details or the text of the supposed handwritten note? I doubt it was much of an apology, if it even exists.

Franken apoligizing for being rude is like Franken apoligizing for breathing; by his nature, he is rude.

We did NOT vote in Al FranKlown! Marc Ritchie counted the votes in whatever manner necessary to insure victory for Senator Butt Nugget.

We had a race in Minnesota - a Catholic/Lutheran state - between two New York Jews (not a racial/ethnic slur). This was a direct result of the Seventeenth Amendment, the second worst. The worst, of course, is the Sixteenth.

Didn’t Norm Coleman fight the election recount?

I didn’t follow all day to day details, but I thought that it went all the way to the Minnesota Supreme Court? What exactly happened in court? Did liberal judges use a liberal vote count standard to steal the election? Afterwards, I had heard that they discovered that felons were allowed to vote, but, once the election is certified, it’s too late to do anything.

Does Minn. have a law enabling the electorate to recall office holders? I have to believe the voters would recall this guy if given a chance.

I’m still waiting for the people of Minnesota to apologize for this voting in this joke.

You'll wait a long time, because we didn't.
