America Is at Risk of Boiling Over
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 08-07-10 | PEGGY NOONAN

And out-of-touch leaders don't see the need to cool things off.

It is, obviously, self-referential to quote yourself, but I do it to make a point. I wrote the following on New Year's day, 1994. America 16 years ago was a relatively content nation, though full of political sparks: 10 months later the Republicans would take the House for the first time in 40 years. But beneath all the action was, I thought, a coming unease. Something inside was telling us we were living through "not the placid dawn of a peaceful age but the illusory calm before stern storms."

Peggy Noonan is riding both sides of the fence. I for one am sick of it. She shilled for Der Leader in 2008 so she’s got no right to complain. Or congratulate herself.

Peggy’s absolutely RIGHT here — too bad she’s JUST seeing it. About 3 years too late.

That’s what having yer head shoved so far up, er, somewhere ya can’t see the sun will do to ya there Peg....

They don't seem to know or have a sense of the mood of the country.

These people, including all the political cheerleaders and groupies have not the slightest clue...

Because we're not going to send the estimated 10 million to 15 million illegals already here back. We're not going to put sobbing children on a million buses

Screeeeeeeech....This is where Noonen loses it...

Start deporting several hundred thousand every few months...It would be easy....We can move tens of millions every few months on airlines and buses, so we could certainly move several hundred thousand illegals out of here every few months with ease....Those that try to reenter, will be building new tents city prisons on the borders, and they will be used to build and complete super walls like the Israelis build on their borders...

The fixes are easy.

I agree. The main point of the article, and a very, very important one:

"But I've never seen the gap wider than it is now. I think it is a chasm. In Washington they don't seem to be looking around and thinking, Hmmm, this nation is in trouble, it needs help. They're thinking something else. I'm not sure they understand the American Dream itself needs a boost, needs encouragement and protection. They don't seem to know or have a sense of the mood of the country.

Those in D.C. don't care, because their are the elitist insider...The government arrogant ruling class that want to control and rule every aspect of our lives....

It's the same exact reason why we went to war with Britain a few years back.

A vast majority of the American people are screaming, “STOP! SLOW DOWN!” And the vast majority of the elected officials are not listening to the people who elected them, and they simply don’t care.

This is an excellent article. I love Peggy’s talent with words.

The productive will no longer support the parasites.
The urban welfare class and their Liberal/socialist enablers
have abused the rest of America for far too long.

“Inner pessimism and powerlessness: That is a dangerous combination.”

American citizens bough at least 80% as much small arms ammunition as did the US military. In only the mind of a Big Sh*tty MediaPerson would Americans be considered “powerless”.

Maybe she should take up writing romance novels.

Sorry, I don't read romance novels.

I can't think of anyone with a better writing style and way with words than Peggy Noonan. Her words just flow and read so easily. That's my point.

odd commentary coming from an elitist butterfly like Peggy. I am not feeling the sincerity here.......anyone...?

The 0bama Regime is instigating a "boiling over", IMHO.

And the state controlled media is dutifully following orders, promoting their agenda.

No accounting for taste I guess.

But then, you like Mitt Romney, the most liberal Governor in the history of the known universe, so...

I completely agree. I always enjoy reading her.

Unfortunately, there are a lot freepers who simply won't tolerate certain pundits coloring outside the lines. It's borderline treason. I think some people overvalue her leverage on political discourse.

She doesn't influence my core conservative foundation, but her unique perspective and melodic language make her an enjoyable read.

In the end however she states we would never deport illegals so she sort of gets it but fails once more.

America is boiling because of MITT ROMNEY and his Obama.

here is an example:

"(The GroundZero Mosque) cleared its final hurdle ….
developers plan to build the $100 million center which will include a mosque.
Since its incipient stages in July 2009, when a Muslim-run real-estate development
company purchased the damaged, vacant building and land where the new center
will be built, the project has sparked controversy and debate.
.... the tattered building that was bought by the Muslim real estate company had
been owned by a subsidiary of Bain Capital, a company Romney founded in 1984.

So it’s OK if his company can profit off the sale of the land ."
