The release of two sets of State Department documents through a Freedom of Information Act request has given new life to the puzzle of how Barack Obama could have attended third grade in Hawaii, as claimed by a classmate, while he has stated he was living in Indonesia at the time.
The indication Obama attended third grade in 1969 at Noelani Elementary School in Honolulu comes from an old photograph made public by classmate Scott Inoue. The informal photo shows Obama and Inoue against a background of what appears to be Christmas drawings by school children posted on a classroom bulletin board.
"The photo shows Barack Obama's arm around me in the third grade at Noelani in 1969," Inoue told WND. "My mother wrote that inscription on the bottom of the photograph at the time the picture was taken."
The inscription reads: "Scott & Barry 3rd grade 1969."

We did the same thing to my step-daughter when we moved from TN to SC. She had been just barely old enough to start 1st grade in TN and she hadn't done well. Next fall when we enrolled her in school in SC, we discussed it with the school and put her in 1st grade again. Since nobody knew her at the new school there was no social stigma of being labeled a failure by her peers.
And yet FReepers have the nerve to ridicule WND, calling them World Nut Daily. They have been doing yeoman’s work on this issue.

I got flamed yesterday for a similar remark. Later, I read that the Freeper who did that is writing a book (negative) about "Birthers". I am not a "Birther" but there are a lot of problems with Obozo's eligibility. All 3 branches of government "know" that he is not eligible, but nothing is done.

0 entered 5th grade when he returned to Hawaii in 1971. He graduated in 1978-79 year. He did not repeat any grades. I have checked out Scott Inoue on Facebook. He also graduated from HS in 1979 but not from Punahou. His school was Roosevelt High. There are other photos on his FB page that have been posted before but we were never sure who he was. In the Kindergarten photo from Noelani he is the boy in the front row second from the left. There is also a photo of him in 1974 with a team he played on. He is in the front row first on the left. He seems to be the same size as his team-mates and in his grown up pictures he does not seem to be a “short” Asian. However, every photo we have seen of 0 at or around this time period show him to be a very big kid for his age. Even in the kindergarten photo he seems much bigger than most of the other children. Therefore I think this photo is real but unexplainable by any known 0 timeline. He also seems to be a very nice decent guy is spite of the fact that he is thrilled to have had personal contact with 0.
This appears to indicate that Obama was born in Honolulu.
Right, it just doesn’t give the basis for the claim ... also, the person who wrote this had a hard time with apostrophes and possessives.

It is a contemperaneous memo to the file. It appears it was done on a manual typewriter that had some problems with Ls and 1s. I realize it is a claim, but it is pursuant to an inquiry from the central office. It is consistent with the claim that Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu. The memo was written on September 14, 1967.
Comforting to know that our alleged POTUS flunked third grade... Only in the Democratic party...

As someone who spent 36 years in the USG beginning in 1965, I have seen all kinds of typewriters, including manual ones. The main typewriter was the IBM selectric with its rotating ball. In any event, I don’t view this as a major issue that somehow invalidates what Mix wrote at the time. If you notice in exhibit #000045, it appears that Mix is the drafter, i.e., WLM:cs, of the letter signed by John O’Shea.

This “memorandum” is either a forgery, phony, or without credence because a letter [000048] from the State Department was sent to the author of this memo several weeks later requesting an inquiry into the “citizenship” status of “spouse’s son”.

Wouldn’t that mean the same defective typewriter would have been used in the letters?? Why would Mix use a different typewriter for this memo and not the letters. Too fishy.
No. If you look at the letters sent by O’Shea (exhibit 000045) you will notice the letters WIM:cs. WIM is the drafter and cs are the initials of the secretary. Mix could have typed his Memorandum for the file on his own typewriter and the official letter by the secretary on her typewriter.
It has to do with the processing of the visa for Lolo. Obama was adopted but still an Amcit. It is a reason for Lolo to return to Hawaii. His wife and stepson are in Hawaii, which is causing a hardship for all of them. Lolo was employed in a job with a “meager salary,” and was dependent upon his family in Indonesia for support. The reason he was in Indonesia was to satisfy his two year foreign residency requirement to obtain his US LPR visa.
