Tiger’s career will come down to this:
During his Heyday he was known for his dedication - he was at the course before any other players arrived, and he was still on the range when all the other players had left after a round. The man literally practiced 8-10 hours a day, in addition to 4 hours on the golf course.

he was the best because he made himself the best.

contrast that to this year, and particularly this season - Woods showed up at Firestone about an hour before his tee time each day, hit a few balls, played (loosly speaking) his round, and then goes directly to his car and leaves.

He is not practicing at all. His mind is not on golf, it is on his divorce. I doubt he will do anything at all this season.

BUT, the key will be next year - One of two things will happen once the divorce is final:
1. Tiger will throw it in and say to hell with it, and either retire or continue to hack the ball around just living on his past
2. he will use golf as his escape, and will become the hours a day practicer he was — if that happens he will have an unbelievable comeback.

The commentators on the yahoo.com page include those who take note of the fact that he ain’t practicing anymore. At least one accuses him of being a painkiller addict, and another one states that this bursting skyrocket/self-destruct phenomenon is common to all parent-pushed, child-prodigy athletes. He’s been nothing but a golf-playing robot since his early teens.

And of course there are all those yahoos who say he just needs to start hooking up again.

He could retire and make like Bruce Jenner—ie. doing just about anything and everything—from driving racecars, starring in goofy movies, doing infomercials, celebrity appearances, sports commentating, judging pet shows, lending his name to various commercial ventures (and starting a few serious companies as well)...etc. Not to marrying several times and having plenty of showbiz brat kids.

But then again, he already blew up his most precious possession, his good name, so that’s all out.

So he can either make like O.J. Simpson or get his head back together and get back into the game.

Tiger needs to be the ball. Be the ball, Tiger, be the ball.
