With the heated debates regarding the planned mosque near Ground Zero in New York making headlines in recent weeks, a New York Times report that was also published in the San Francisco Sentinel over the weekend serves as a reminder that not only the Big Apple has experienced confrontations due to a planned building of a mosque.
The report highlighted what has taken place in other locations across the United States in which mosques are proposed. For example, hundreds of protesters marched in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where a large Muslim center was proposed near a subdivision. Republican candidates have already denounced these plans, said the report.

The fate of mosques in the US should be the same as that of churches and synagogues in Islamofacist countries, i.e. Saudi Arabia...Not allowed...burn them out...execute the perps (meaning those who would fund, those who would approve, and those who would build).

this is a christian nation..founded on christian principal. in Muslim nations people are not allowed to practice chirstian religion but they come here and think they should have more rights than they would grant us..It was Radical Muslims that attacked us on 911 and still making war on us today. their religion tells them to kill us.you would think that they could show a little consideration..same goes for the politicians supporting them. There will be more protests against the building of mosques for the simple reason they are the West’s local muslim enemy HQ and beach head to impose eventual sharia law and overturn our Constitution via every method of intimidation known whether it be legal, political or thru terrorist acts. This is a visceral reaction, a sense of self-preservation that is percolating up thru Christian and Jew, who now better understand the nature of our mutual enemy, islam, and all it’s manifestations.
Gee whiz, I guess I never thought these muslims could be so violent against people who welcome them to their “free” countries and recognize them as equals, when the muslims see it only as invitation to subjugate, convert or slaughter these naive infidels over time. Or so history has taught us, at least those who care to read it.

When they build a church or synagogue in downtown Riyadh, I’ll support a mosque at ground zero.
We should allow them to build mosques in the U.S. when they allow churches and synagogues in Mecca and Medina.

No to the Ground Zero Mosque, Bloomberg was twisting reality to try to claim that those who oppose this should be ashamed: does he not know that ISLAM sees this as a symbol of “Victory” over the “infadels”??
I seriously doubt, given my understanding of the wisdom found in the writings of the Founding Fathers, that they would have allowed invasion and subjugation of our country by people of any particular religion whose history and underlying beliefs were those of relentless conquest and cruel tyranny towards those of all other faiths.
These were men of practical minds, with lofty but practical ideals, and the ability to draw obvious conclusions from obvious facts, not academics prone to allowing hair-splitting theoretical arguements to lead to the ruination of their families, their freedom and their way of life, or their country.
In his autobiography, Jefferson recounted with satisfaction that in the struggle to pass his landmark Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom (1786), the Virginia legislature “rejected by a great majority” an effort to limit the bill’s scope “in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mahometan.” George Washington suggested a way for Muslims to “obtain proper relief” from a proposed Virginia bill, laying taxes to support Christian worship. On another occasion, the first president declared that he would welcome “Mohometans” to Mount Vernon if they were “good workmen” (see page 96). That similar mosques are now springing up in other major cities across the country is extremely troubling, and resembles a kind of military attack: instead of armies that can easily be repelled and defeated by the U.S., Islam uses a camouflaged tank known as a “mosque”, knowing that the current interpretation of the invaded country’s laws and traditions (as interpreted by the invaded country’s own public spokespersons, politicians, academics, and intellectuals) do not permit this kind of tank even to be viewed as a weapon.
I don’t believe that a foreign culture and mindset like that of Islam could so accurately read these current vulnerabilities of American culture at a distance. I believe that Islam has been paying extremely close attention to U.S. public opinion, and media spin, for several decades, by means of “plants”: ostensibly integrated Muslim-American citizens, who seemed well-adjusted to American life and the possibilities it offered them and their families, but who, in fact, were “cultural spies”, reporting back to their own handlers — imams, academics, etc., who themselves had a more direct connection to the Middle East — as to the extent that the U.S. had been “softened up”, culturally and spiritually, for invasion by Islam. The greenlighting of the Ground Zero mosque, and the recent statement by Ahmadinejad (i.e., that the reported number of victims of 9-11 had been greatly inflated by the U.S. press for anti-Muslim propaganda reasons) are not coincidences, but part of the same attempt at psychological subversion.

Haven’t read through it completely yet, but it appears to be yet another set of appeasements: Islam is seen as the victim, and it is the obligation of the U.S. to engage in more “outreach” in order to assuage Muslim “grievances.”
I try to keep in mind the wise words of Mark Steyn: throughout history, Islam has always been subdued and rendered harmless through imposition of a stronger cultural (and/or political) force outside of itself. What needs to occur — difficult thought it may be — is a resurgence of American Judeo-Christian cultural CONFIDENCE. Like the rest of us, Steyn has no firm idea on how this can be done, but he does at least recommend the following: stop the flow of anti-American, anti-western propaganda from the Middle East (mainly, he claims, from Saudi Arabia); and stop the flow of Muslim immigration to the U.S.

There’s a simple way to end the arguments about the 1st Amendment protection for religion with these mosques: eliminate Islam as a recognized religion, declare them a political ideology of hate, terror and racism, and remove their tax exemption as such. There is ample evidence for this across centuries and continents.
Downtown Riyadh? No. I want to see one in Mecca!
