unemployment this time around has hit everyone top to bottom. BS any group in particular has been hit harder.
I think he may lose the minorities simply because he doesn’t have a clue about the economy. He’s thinking of cultivating the crowd that wants government handouts, but there are many others who actually want to work and get ahead, and a functioning economy is necessary for that.
He’s down with Hispanics, too. An interesting fact is that 40% of the small businesses in this country are owned by Hispanics. If that figure sounds high, remember that these can be very, very tiny businesses, not only the corner bodega but a service provider such as two guys with a lawnmower and weed whacker. People don’t buy these services when the economy is down, and, in addition, these very tiny businesses are not up to all the reporting and regulatory requirements that are suddenly being imposed on them, not to mention the taxes. So he’s dropped a lot among Hispanics.
I think he’ll continue to go down among blacks, too, no matter how hard he tries to wave the race flag and keep them faithful to him.
Oh, the delicious irony! Under Clinton and Bush, blacks saw soaring employment opportunities. Under Obama, a black man, blacks are being subjugated (again) in lieu of unemployment assurances, educational scholarships for being black, and myriad federal assistance programs. This article tells me one thing about the black community: they want to work but cannot find any jobs! Congratulations Obama voters, you have succeeded in removing yourselves from the job market through indirect consequence of your voting actions in November 08.
My thoughts exactly
Actually, if you look at the demographic trend lines, your statement is incorrect, for example, minimum wage workers have seen the steepest and longest decline of all groups over the last two plus years.
The American people are tired of race and gender politics. We’re tired of being called racists and sexists. Every story just stokes the fires. The flame should be good and high come November.
You are absolutely right on. I'm sick and tired of "African-American". My advice to those who identify with 'African-American' is to go back to your native land and stay there.
Another thing, the reason why unemployment was also low under Clinton, was because the Republicans controlled the House, which they did until the Rats took over in January of 2007. Then things changed for the worse
this is painful...proves O could care less about unemployment..he tried to send everyone to school on grants when he took office..I remember the adds..”single mother’s Obama wants you to go back to school”..then i heard people outside the US were getting grants...just like the green stimulas...People ouside the US qualified to get grants for green businesses.
I used to hyphenate myself as a way of explaining my heritage. However, one can maintain their lineage and heritage through pride in one’s cultural background and still remain an American the whole time. I may be Scots-ItaliaRussoGerman-American, but I’m American FIRST. I hold no fealty to the banners of any of my heritage countries.
Think transposition and clarity will appear.
The better descriptive is American-African. The longing for the old tribal ways rules
>minimum wage workers have seen the steepest and longest decline of all groups over the last two plus years.
Which speaks volumes about the minimum wage & its true effects & consequences in a free market.
Keep jacking it up, - see what happens.
I don’t get it, if you are a black woman and have at least some professional skills and a good attitude, there is no way they wouldn’t get hired, especially in IT or engineering.
Yo, you is cracker-amerikan.
There can be no fifty-fifty Americanism in this country.
There is room here for only 100% Americanism, only for those who are Americans and nothing else.
