Little connection to jobless rates and federal stimulus funds
McClatchy News via SacBee ^ | 8/9/10 | Graydon Gordian, Kelsey Snell and Michael Beller McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON – In February 2009, the United States had fallen into the deepest economic slowdown since the Great Depression. The housing bubble had burst, unemployment was nearing its highest level in almost three decades and the once-freewheeling banking sector had turned tightfisted.

At the urging of President Barack Obama, Congress passed an $862 billion economic stimulus bill on Feb. 10, 2009, to get federal dollars flowing into the U.S. economy.

Eighteen months later, the administration estimates that about 85 percent of the jobs it expected to create or save in the first two years have indeed been created or saved. The economy is rebounding slowly, and the worst effects of the recession have softened. Unemployment, while still high, is better than it otherwise would have been.

For the most part, mainstream economists such as those at the Congressional Budget Office agree with those conclusions, but an examination by McClatchy and the Medill News Service has found that some parts of the country have benefited far more from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act than others have, that some sectors of the economy are benefiting far more than others are and that it's difficult to detail exactly where all the money has gone.

Among the findings:

• The jobless rates in the states had little to do with where major portions of the stimulus package were distributed. Some states with the lowest unemployment rates received some of the highest per capita spending for stimulus projects.

• Job creation has been uneven. By the White House's numbers, for example, Nebraska created 74 percent of its expected jobs, while North Dakota and Massachusetts created 100 percent.

“Bottom line: It’s working,” Oxhorn said..........I suppose according to Oxhorn, Janet Napolitano was also right about the Christmas bombing terrorist attempt when she said “the system worked”?

This whole article reads like an Obama lie script.....

As such, the vast majority of American people can care less about numbers being spouted to assert the Stimulus worked.....they operate based on PERCEPTION, and the overall and overriding PERCEPTION is that the Stimulus has NOT worked. Hence why more people believe Elvis is still alive than those who believe the Stimulus actually worked........=.=

“Before the recovery act, our economy was losing an average of 750,000 jobs each month.”

This lie is continually trotted out by BO and his supporters.
The only month in which 750,000+ lost jobs was in January 2009, the month BO was inaugurated and businessmen realized that a Marxist was being installed as President. They began to ditch employees, hopefully the dimwits who sported Obama bumper stickers in the employee parking lots.

In February 2009, the United States had fallen into the deepest economic slowdown since the Great Depression

Start your article with a lie Obama Media and you lose the debate from the start.

This is not the "worse recession since the Great Depression" That is a verbatim regurgitation of a DNC press release. That claim has no base in fact.

Another verbatim recitation of a Democrat National Committee press release. Another complete lie by the Obamite media.

We were promised by the Obama regime that unemployment would stay under 8% IF we gave them the Stimulus. Job creation has been MUCH worse then projected despite the trillions in new spending the Democrats have spent.

Here is a copy of the chart of the promised vrs actual results of the Democrat stimulus plan.

Where did you get the original graphic? Better bookmark and archive it before it disappears into a memory hole.

Does he even know the difference between truth and fabrication?
Now Barack’s father served in WW ll
He said so in a speech.
Is he a compulsive liar?
Were there no reporters who double checked these statements and called the party on this?

They did for everyone else. Why not him?
Barack Hussein Obama Sr. (Obama’s father)
Born 4/4/36
Died 11/24/82 at the age of 46
He was 5 years old when WW 2 started, and less than 9.5 years old when it ended.
Lolo Soetoro (Obama’s step father)
Born 1935
Died 3/2/87 at the age of 52
He was 6 years old when WW 2 started, and 10 years old when it ended.
One of these guys must have been the youngest Veteran in the war.
Watch the video.
WHAT A LIAR!!!! And the media doesn’t say anything.
If you doubt it, Google both of these guys.
