As long as we continue to view everyone through the prism of identity groups, and hire accordingly, we are doomed to third rate production and status.
I’m not saying this woman isn’t qualified, or isn’t a good hire, I have no clue. But if the most notable thing on her cv is her gender, that’s not a good sign.
Agreed & well said. Hire the BEST candidate.
Wasn’t the first woman Eve?
What branch of Al-Qaida is she from?
That’s a woman?
Only to “The Little Dutch Boy”..
This is a prime example of why some of us feel we must tout the accomplishments of a gender.
“Thats a woman?”
What is this...”National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency”?
The best candidate for the job, or just another one of 0bamao’s growing list of lesbo hires?
Go to wiki....I think her job description is much different than we think.
Weren’t Albright, Rice, and Clinton technically head of INR?
For a second there, I thought it was going to be Michelle!
Real impressive:

Can’t find anything about intelligence experience prior to being appointed in 2006 as deputy director. This means Bush Administration made the first appointment.
“The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is an agency of the United States Government with the primary mission of collection, analysis, and distribution of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) in support of national security. NGA was formerly known as the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) and is part of the Department of Defense (DoD). In addition, NGA is a key component of the United States Intelligence Community.
NGA’s headquarters are located in Bethesda, Maryland and operates major facilities in the Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., and St. Louis, Missouri areas as well as support and liaison offices worldwide. In 2011 NGA expects to consolidate many of its regional activities as part of the BRAC in a new campus near Ft. Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia, which will become the third-largest government building in the Washington Metropolitan Area.[2] Its budget and number of employees are classified

Don't see who she replaced but Gates shook her hand at the swearing in.
Goes back to 2000. Worked for CIA...intelligence gathering. Sounds like a Valerie Plame.
The Federal arm of Google.
she looks tough enough. bet she could take BO three out of four...
Thanks for definition JoeProBono!
I’ll say it: this woman isn’t qualified.
In fact, I’ll say a bit more: I would never hire a woman to run an intelligence agency.
Oh, stop! She’s a perfectly fine looking late-50’s woman.
Or was it Lilith?

I hate the first-whatever accolades, but it looks like she’s got the credentials and has seriously put in the time. Also, she’s reported to the overall head of intelligence for years, so he knows whom he’s getting.
Oh come on....they're making this stuff up!!!
Next we'll hear about "Dispersalcentric"!!!
Hee hee hee.
So, it’s Bush’s fault.

Isn’t this the agency of issue when obama was talking to a guy in line at a restaurant last year and asked him where he worked, and when the guy replied, obama said something like “o, what is that?” And the fellow respectfully replied that it was an agency his national security/intel infrastructure.
‘...Hire the BEST candidate...’
Exactly!
Oh, Law! Too many women selected to do a man’s work! They try to make husbands obsolete, and belittle fatherhood on TV all the time. They try to take God out of America! Smells like part of the liberal agenda, doesn’t it? If women would just stay home and raise the children, do what God intended us to do, and nourish our marriages, America would b4e a far healthier and happier place today.

There should be only one intelligence agency....fire all the others!!

What are you talking about? Did you read the article?
‘Long’s old boss and mentor, James R. Clapper, newly confirmed as director of national intelligence, noted her 32 years of service, with 16 of them often working in agencies under his purview. ...Long thanked him for “taking a chance on a young executive, way back when,”...women in their thirties and forties at these agencies say the climb they face is small compared to Long’s fight, against an older generation that hadn’t yet witnessed women in combat or a woman come so close to capturing the nomination for U.S. president.’
I take it back, after the reactionary comments by Freepers here, it is still newsworthy that I woman overcomes those attitudes and prevails. Even if it takes her 32 years of service, there are still many ready to jump to the accusation that she isn’t qualified.
No, I goggled her name for bio information. It said she was appointed in May, 2006.
I apologize for not reading the whole article before commenting. My mistake, and it won't happen again.
No problem! ;-)
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency????....
What in hell is that??????
Hey Obama!....I got geospatial right here!!!!
“If women would just stay home and raise the children, do what God intended us to do, and nourish our marriages, America would b4e a far healthier and happier place today.”
Perhaps you would be happier and that’s great, I am not sure “America” would agree though...
Not too shabby. I was afraid she was a Chicago pal of Michele or Barry...
Yeah, like a woman can keep a secret.

This is another PC appointment in a long list of PC appointments. Appointments are no longer based upon ability but sex, color, sexual orientation, and partisanship.
If America agreed with me we wouldn’t be in the straits we now find ourselves, MissTickly
