Except to be trendy and hip and faux “green”...

See Toyota Prius. I see most of them zipping along passing me showing off their economy. My wife wouldn’t be seen in one and that is good enough for me. Frankly for six to seven months of potential winter driving, I much prefer rear wheel drive. An option that is becoming more and more difficult to find, and is being replaced by all wheel drive, which is not nearly as fuel efficient, and much more expensive to drive over long term, and not nearly as fun or traditional in the driving department.

The thing is, even a Prius is way cheaper than a Volt. They start at $22.8K The top of the line loaded Prius V is $28K.

The Prius also gets better fuel economy than the Volt does when it’s running on it’s engine.

A Prius is a much more mature design, too. We know that a Prius works pretty well, even if it also doesn’t make economic sense.

There are currently plug in kits for them and Toyota will soon release plug in versions of the car.

So even a greenie should choose a Prius over a Volt.
