Senate passes bill to save teacher, police jobs –

WASHINGTON (AP) — Legislation to provide billions to save the jobs of teachers and other public workers is on track to pass the Senate, helped along by the votes of a couple of GOP moderates. Democrats cracked a GOP filibuster on Wednesday, and the House was being called back from its summer break for an expected final vote next week to help cash-strapped states and school districts. The $26 billion measure would help states ease their severe budget problems and, advocates said, stop the layoffs of perhaps 300,000 teachers, firefighters, police officers and other public employees. Though scaled back, the bill also would salvage a victory for Democrats who have been unable to deliver most of the jobs help they and President Barack Obama promised.

The legislation advanced by a 61-38 tally that all but ensured it would pass the Senate on Thursday. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she would call the House back into session next week to approve the measure to get it to Obama for his signature before most schools reopen. Many Republicans objected to the expense at a time of record budget deficits, but moderate Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine cast the key votes to break the filibuster — as they did last month in helping Democrats pass a six-month extension of jobless benefits.

This money will be plowed only into the elections for Democrats.

And Democrat-moles Snowe and Collins, working feverishly to advance the cause of Democrats, made sure this could happen.

Why can’t teachers be canned like anyone else? There is nothing terribly special about a teacher. Fire them! And why do we need more police with crime at near all-time lows? Fire them too! Whatever it takes to reduce deficits across the nation.

$26,000,000,000/300,000 is 86,666.00 per job.

And what happens when this new money runs out?

Just like the Obama Stimulus was a lie from the start, so is this scam. They are using failed economic theory to manufacture PR cover story for the largest taxpayer funded bribe in history.

All the Obama Democrats are doing with their “stimulus” bills is charging the various blue state's Visa bill to the Fed taxpayers Master Card.

Like this bill, the bulk of the Fed “Stimulus” spending went to bail out local and state Governments. The Dems theory is the economy will recover and local tax revenues will come back up before this new “Stimulus” spending is exhausted thus preventing any mass layoffs in their Government Employee Union political base.

Now they are running out of Stimulus money, the economy isn't recovering and the state and local budgets still have all most all the fat in them they had pre Recession so of course their solution is “do the same thing again”.

“Legislation to provide billions to save the jobs of teachers and other public workers”

This description of the legislation is dishonest. It is actually a bill to allow corrupt politicians to continue to steal money from taxpayers and not have to bear any responsibility. The money for teachers and police etc is taxpayer money as is the money that the politicians waste and steal. Instead of being honest and responsible with taxpayers money politicians can just get it from the federal government(which is running a $1.5 trillion deficit).

This is a recipe for fiscal disaster.

The Witches of Eastwick costs the bill an extra $16B. Heard Karl Rove explain it yesterday on Rush’s show.

The original bill was only $10B. It was a couple of REPUBLICAN SENATORS that plumped the bill another $16B.

The Witches wanted money for Medicaid for their states - about $70M. Problem is that if you give it to these two crying skanks, you have to give it to the rest of the states, especially Texas, CA, FL, and NY.

After they are all done raiding the pantry, it took an extra $16B to pass a $10B jobs bill, all because of two REPUBLICANS.

So, as a member of such a party, how do you come to grips with that intellectually? It’s just a question for the official RNC types that may grace this forum?

Why, again, should we get behind a party that would have these two idiots in it?
