Isn’t it always freezing cold in San Francisco in the summer?

Purportedly Mark Twain wrote he had never seen a colder winter than summer in San Francisco.

I live on the San Francisco Peninsula a few miles south of the city. It's slightly above 55 right now. All day long my roof has been soaking up the sun and it's now penetrated to the house, so indoors it's 72. If I followed code when I renovated I'd have to have a heater on somewhere.

OTOH, I'm in short sleeves and sleep with the windows open.

Yes. Actually, it's the same year-round. Not quite freezing, but uncomfortably cold in summer. Nobody has air conditioning, not needed.

I was at SF Int'l Airport early this morning, low 50s. Always amusing seeing arriving tourists freak out at the cool weather. Especially those wearing shorts.
