"...Evidence from U.S. Army records shows conclusively that although blacks were a small statistical minority of U.S. troops in the European Theater --- less than 10 percent --- they were targeted, by French and American authorities alike, as the scapegoats for widespread American misbehavior and sexual violence. Black American soldiers were charged and convicted and punished for crimes against French people in numbers vastly disproportionate to their statistical presence in the American Army."

So when can we expect to hear the apology for their misconduct? Our prisons are also disproportionately packed in the same way. So what do they have to say for themselves?

This is the age of apologizing for one's group, is it not?

What they have to say for themselves is that Blacks cannot really be considered guilty of any crime, except the failure to rebel against the oppression of the White Capitalists. It is due to this historic oppression that the Blacks resist the structure of the White society and its legal system. Restorative justice would open the prisons and give those incarcerated Blacks another chance to live in a society that is free of White man’s oppression. (See, I’ve read Rev. Cone)

WA State is already working on early release programs, not for just Black people, but for all oppressed people (because we don’t have enough Blacks to really make up an aggrieved class of people). We have drug courts and half way houses, where prisoners are released back into the community with minimal supervision. We built a new prison that was completed for months before the Governor bothered to staff it. A new division of the dept of ecology took precedence.

Haven't you been paying attention?
