Moss bunkers have been washing up dead on the beaches of the jersey shore for as long as I can remember. They used to stink up the entire town. Our dogs would run down to the beaches to roll in them. What a mess. Tomato juice was the only way to get the smell out. I hear the water is much cleaner these days so I can't imagine it's the pollution.

Moss bunkers were always in pieces in Newark Bay. I always thought they were easy prey for bluefish.
