Poll: Sandoval has 50 percent to Rory Reid's 31 percent
Sunday, August 1, 2010

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Republican Brian Sandoval has a double-digit lead over Democrat Rory Reid in the Nevada governor's race, according to a statewide poll released Saturday.

The poll, conducted for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and KLAS-TV, found that Sandoval had 50 percent to Reid's 31 percent. Fourteen percent were undecided, 3 percent were for “none of these candidates” and 2 percent were for others.

Sandoval's 19 percentage-point lead compares with an 11 percentage-point margin he held in a similar poll two weeks ago and his 14 percentage-point edge in early June.

The telephone survey of 625 registered voters was conducted Monday through Wednesday by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Former Nevada state Archivist Guy Rocha said Reid, who is from Las Vegas, needs to improve his standing in Clark County against Sandoval, who is from Reno.

In Clark County, 45 percent of respondents supported Sandoval and 36 percent favored Reid, with 14 percent undecided.

That smarts.

The Republican ‘Sandoval’-—say isn’t that a German name? Or maybe Irish? Possibly Norwegian! Then again, it could be Polish! Just a hunch—typical for the party of the caucasian conservatives.

I think this has a little something to do with Dingy telling Hispanics that they shouldn’t vote for Republicans. LOL!

Republican Brian Sandoval........

When I was in school, several of my school mates had the surname Sandoval.

Although, I don't recall ever asking any them where their ancestors originated, I suspect their origins might have been Latin America, now that I am thinking about it.

I hope Rory’s poll numbers are indicative of daddy’s poll numbers on November 2.

This year, the voters of Nevada have the rare opportunity to dispose of two bums with one hard shove to the curb.

“Although, I don’t recall ever asking any them where their ancestors originated, I suspect their origins might have been Latin America, now that I am thinking about it....”

Yeah, same boat here.

I went to school with people with Spanish surnames and didn’t even realize it at the time.....Sandoval, Leal, Latigo, Acoma, etc. Of course, there was no local branch of the PC Police running around pointing out everyone’s ethnicity and heritage and making a big f’ing deal out it all. We were just a bunch of piss-ignorant kids going to school in small town Texas, drinking beer, trying to get dates, and one-upping each other on the main drag. Nobody thought about it or gave a rat.

Today I work with people who look Hispanic with last names like Warburton and with other people who are natural red-heads or fairer-skinned who are from Mexico and you’d think they were from Kentucky or Louisiana. I work with one lady who looks Hispanic, speaks French as a first language, who calls herself a real Creole....and she’s from Mississippi.

Funny, we all get along and get to work and nobody’s feelings are constantly an issue. Imagine that.......

“Stay Outta Da Reids!”

I don’t know why ANY Hispanic would not want to vote for Sandoval over Reid’s seed.

Thanks for telling me your story. Your small town in Texas was really no different from my larger San Diego experience. After I posted my comments, I checked my junior high and high school year books and counted five different Sandoval friends. Like you said, several Latino surnames, Garcia, Acuna, Cruz and a non-Latino Kruse (pronounced the same) Lopez, etc., but nobody gave it a first thought, let alone a second thought, but now that I’m thinking back, I can’t say whether the kids were full Latino or not, and we see each other at reunions! That how much it matters!

Harry Reid is jerk. Both Harry and his son deserve to be defeated, along with all race-baiting hate mongers.

Very nice talking with you!!!

Sandoval, of course, a very old Spanish name.

I don’t think Sandoval will stay his full 4 yr term. I believe he will run for Ensign office. That seems to be what he does best.
