I can understanding building a mosque that tries to promote tolerance, understanding and good will, but this is not that mosque. The guys responsible for it, share the view of al qaeda. They celebrate and dance on the grave on the fallen. Thats like having the Nazi build a shrine to celebrate Hitler’s birth and everything about him at a Holocaust museum and then demad the victims to tolerate ppl with different point of view, instead of demanding the opposite to tolerate others. Its unseemly

I'll give the benefit of the doubt and interpret that as an admonition not to confuse mainstream Islam with radical, terrorist Islam. But the way that's worded, Obama seems to be telling his audience not to think about whether there's a difference. I don't know whether this is sloppiness on Obama's part, or that of the reporter who wrote the article. Of course, it is possible that Obama actually said this and meant it.
Maybe this is nit-picking, but the increasing sloppiness in communication, even on the part of those who should be the best at communicating, drives me crazy.

Public opinion doesn’t matter and then it matters a lot. Right now Obama is cranking up his elitism and arrogance to surmount public opinion — get that confidence buzz happening that tells you how right and special you are in spite of public disapproval — and then he will turn around and be shocked and disappointed by the low poll numbers. The elitism and arrogance is a rocket that takes him up to a rarefied atmosphere but only to fall to earth and be like the other earthlings, subject to their opinions (and there are more of them than him). The decision to go with the Mosque was born out of his loyalty to his class (the elites) and their values rather than any concern for “his” citizens. This is just another moment of class solidarity, an aristocracy that has to stare down the rabble, the great unwashed (like the Tea Party.) Again, the greater the opposition to Obama the greater his arrogance and assurances of superiority, which means he will learn nothing and just continue to double down on his bets.
This is a no win game because Obama can’t ever be a regular American — his elitism won’t allow for it. He’ll act it out, put on a show but it is not in his heart. He is scared to be equal and regular and have people given power to be a judge over him.
Obama will be running for re-electionJust about the time the mosque construction ramps up. Obama will have to eat this one. Interesting to see what O does for 9/11/11 probably about the time construction starts. There was no reason other than stupidity for Obama to say anything.

Religious tolerance being preached by people that demand the removal of Nativity displays at Christmas, want “under God” removed from the pledge of allegiance, ban any prayers at public ceremonies, disband Christian groups in public schools and order the removal of plaques and statues depicting religious figures from public buildings.
