Chrysler's Ram truck division is taking direct aim at hunters with a unique feature on its new line of Outdoorsman pickup trucks - a gun closet. Called the The Mopar RamBox Holster, its a rack that can hold two rifles or shotguns inside one of the lockable, watertight compartments located on either side of the pickup bed. A $205 option - on top of the $1895 price of the RamBox feature itself - the rack can be rotated to hold six fishing poles for those who prefer quieter trips into the great outdoors. The Outdoorsman starts at $28,350 and includes standard features like scratch-resistant bumpers, puncture-resistant tires, and a towing package. Buyers can order the trimline on most Ram models, including heavy duty and long wheelbase versions.

offering a ready-made technical

How about a high end one for the domestic market? It should come with a remote, and an hdtv gunsight routed to the dashboard display. GPS targeting for the rocket/missile launcher versions...

Just a government-controlled-companies sneaky attempt to identify where some of the 200 million guns are?

To drip the rain water off the back, and to make the hat blow off easier in the wind.

Nope.
It's because the new vehicle's metal can't take the stress of the gun and the gun-rack.
They're made too cheaply.

Me thinks it is from the days when the back window of a pick-up truck was close to the back of the seat. The back of the hat turned down so it did not hit the back window.

In my ‘77 Ford Supercab, that wasn’t a problem.

Mine has a 3 digit combination lock. I keep it set to a certain combination then roll the tumblers by touch. I’ve practiced and can have my pistol in hand in just under 1.5 second from the time I open the console lid.

You can get them with a key lock, but I didn’t think that would be wise since the best place for the key would be on the keyring which would be locked into the ignition.

I have the digital key pad and set a combination pattern that I can remember without looking.

Sounds like you are an aware person and did the same thing I did, plan ahead to make sure you can get your weapon quickly.

Well, in the 49 International, and the 56 Jeepster, the 2-60 air conditioner requires you to not wear your hat, due to the heat.
