Hindenburg Omen: Is a Stock Market Crash Imminent?
The Street ^ | August 13, 2010 | Eric Rosenbaum

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- It may just be the summer doldrums, or the ominous occurrence of a Friday the 13 in mid-August, but the Hindenburg Omen -- a technical indicator of an impending stock market crash -- is suddenly as important a market mover as testimony from Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke.

The blog Zero Hedge, writing in a vein that seems made for professional boxing or WWE pay-per-view event hype, describes the Hindenburg Omen as "Easily the most feared technical pattern in all of chartism (for the bullishly inclined). Those who know what it is, tend to have an atavistic reaction to its mere mention."

Put out enough of these articles and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Hey blam, JasonC and I used to spar on this subject quite a bit. I got a feeling he knew more than I did, or was at least more experienced, but he reminded me of my friend who was making great money in the market due to his skillful investing back in 1999, but didn’t do so well after that.

So anyway, I decided to check in on what Jason’s been saying about all the stuff the last month or so and I discovered he stopped posting, cold turkey on May 10th. Maybe he’s on his yacht touring the pacific. I dunno, but have you seen anything or know anything?

The weekly DOW, NASDAQ and S&P500 charts have textbook head and shoulders patterns.

Look at this way, we produce very little in this country any more. Our money is not backed by anything. Out Debt to foreign nations is out of control. The real unemployment figures are at 23-23 % not the phony 10% the government is admitting to.So what do you expect to hold up the stock marked???

Interestingly, I remember that 1,000 point drop. He was poking me about my prediction last year that the dow would drop by summer of this year and that we were running out of time. Then the 1,000 point drop happened the next day and I said something like “Hey, I still got time.” Then nothing.

His last post was four days later.

I found out what happened to JasonC. Select “view replies on this post:

And continue to select view replies. He was zotted by Jim.

I’m only speculating here, but he must have gotten destroyed in that 1000 point drop. He was really getting angry.

Yup.

He and I had a few words also and then we stopped posting to each other.

I'm glad he's gone. He was a bit juvenile and petty, IMO.

JasonC was a bully. He didn’t debate, he chastized. At first I was interested in his opinions, especially as they were opposite of mine. The best way to convince myself I am right is to let someone passionate challenge me on my beliefs. Over time, JasonC became domineering, arrogant and intollerable. I’m sorry his counter-point views are gone but not sorry he is gone.
