My grandmother (born 1888) used to brag that on her wedding day, her husband (my grandfather was not a big man) could put his hands around her waist. Of course, she wore a corset but still. She was only about 5 feet tall.

Going though some old things, I found the belt my mother, as a young bride, wore with her riding pants. Wouldn’t even come close to fitting on my head as a hatband...
