Popular antipathy to a proposed Islamic center near Ground Zero is so fierce that even President Barack Obama, the nation's Islamophile-in-chief, "clarified" his August 11 statement supporting the plan to say, "I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there." It is not just a mosque, of which there are two in the neighborhood, but a symbol of Islamic presence. The most recent CNN poll shows an overwhelming 70%-29% margin of opposition.
When liberal politicians - like the president and New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg - defend the plan, what they mean is, "We want a big Islamic statement near Ground Zero as a gesture of outreach to the Muslim world." When the political right denounces it, they mean, "Muslim conquerors always build a mosque atop the ruins of the places they conquer, and we're not going to give the rascals the satisfaction." That was predictable.
What is surprising is how passionately Americans oppose the Ground Zero mosque. A revolt is brewing against America's liberal political elite.
It is hard to find consistent polling data about American attitudes towards Islam. The largest polling organizations, Pew and Gallup, draw funding from organizations with a vested interest in promoting a benign view of Islam. Nonetheless, the results are striking: in a Gallup inquiry [1] published in January 2010, Americans had an "unfavorable" view of Islam by a margin of 53%-42%, with 31% holding a strongly negative view. That contrasts with 15% for Judaism and 4% for Christianity.
Similar results emerge from polls of respective support for Israel and the Palestinians.

In the past week, I have heard two brave Muslims on the air not only condemning radical Islamic violence in the abstract, but actually renouncing those who fail to do so. The experience confirmed for me that there are moderate and peaceful Muslims out there - but they are at present a small (and often frightened) minority as the dominant force in Islam at this time is decidedly radical and irredentist.
Hmm...maybe it's because all the other major religions of the world don't run around actively and openly trying to kill members of the other religions. Yes, christians have killed, buddhists have killed, jews have killed, but never as matter of religions devotion unlike those who espouse islam. Islam is the only 'religion' that has holy cities completely off limits to outsiders on pains of death.
The other issue that makes it hard for many to accept Islam is that so-called 'moderates' don't denounce the acts of the 'extremists', they don't reject the 'extremists' arguments. To many that's seen as an endorsement.

September 11, 2001 - Terrorists hijack four U.S. commercial airliners taking off from various locations in the United States in a coordinated suicide attack. In separate attacks, two of the airliners crash into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, which catch fire and eventually collapse. A third airliner crashes into the Pentagon in Washington, DC, causing extensive damage. The fourth airliner, also believed to be heading towards Washington, DC, crashes outside Shanksville, PA., killing all 45 people on board. Casualty estimates from New York put the possible death toll close to 5,000, while as many as 200 people may have been lost at the Pentagon crash site.
Oct. 12, 2000 - A terrorist bomb damages the destroyer USS Cole in the port of Aden, Yemen, killing 17 sailors and injuring 39.
Aug. 7, 1998 - Terrorist bombs destroy the U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In Nairobi, 12 Americans are among the 291 killed, and over 5,000 are wounded, including 6 Americans. In Dar es Salaam, one U.S. citizen is wounded among the 10 killed and 77 injured.
In response, on August 20 the United States attacked targets in Afghanistan and Sudan with over 75 cruise missiles fired from Navy ships in the Arabian and Red seas. About 60 Tomahawk cruise missiles were fired from warships in the Arabian Sea. Most struck six separate targets in a camp near Khost, Afghanistan. Simultaneously, about 20 cruise missiles were fired from U.S. ships in the Red Sea striking a factory in Khartoum, Sudan, which was suspected of producing components for making chemical weapons. June 21, 1998 - Rocket-propelled grenades explode near the U.S. embassy in Beirut.
June 25, 1996 - A bomb aboard a fuel truck explodes outside a U.S. air force installation in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. 19 U.S. military personnel are killed in the Khubar Towers housing facility, and 515 are wounded, including 240 Americans.
Nov. 13, 1995 - A car-bomb in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia kills seven people, five of them American military and civilian advisers for National Guard training. The "Tigers of the Gulf," "Islamist Movement for Change," and "Fighting Advocates of God" claim responsibility.
February 1993 - A bomb in a van explodes in the underground parking garage in New York's World Trade Center, killing six people and wounding 1,042.
Dec. 21, 1988 - A bomb destroys Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. All 259 people aboard the Boeing 747 are killed including 189 Americans, as are 11 people on the ground.
April 1986 - An explosion damages a TWA flight as it prepares to land in Athens, Greece. Four people are killed when they are sucked out of the aircraft.
April 5, 1986 - A bomb destroys the LaBelle discotheque in West Berlin. The disco was known to be frequented by U.S. servicemen. The attack kills one American and one German woman and wounds 150, including 44 Americans
In response, on April 15 the United States retaliated in an operation dubbed ‘El Dorado Canyon.’ Approximately 100 aircraft were launched in direct support of the raid. It was an attack against military targets involving land-based bombers from Great Britain together with carrier-based air strikes from ships in the Gulf of Sidra.
December 1985 - Simultaneous suicide attacks are carried out against U.S. and Israeli check-in desks at Rome and Vienna international airports. 20 people are killed in the two attacks, including four terrorists.
November 1985 - Hijackers aboard an Egyptair flight kill one American. Egyptian commandos later storm the aircraft on the isle of Malta, and 60 people are killed.
October 1985 - Palestinian terrorists hijack the cruise liner Achille Lauro (in response to the Israeli attack on PLO headquarters in Tunisia) Leon Klinghoffer, an elderly, wheelchair-bound American, is killed and thrown overboard.
August 1985 - A car bomb at a U.S. military base in Frankfurt, Germany kills two and injures 20. A U.S. soldier murdered for his identity papers is found a day after the explosion.
June 1985 - A TWA airliner is hijacked over the Mediterranean, the start of a two-week hostage ordeal. The last 39 passengers are eventually released in Damascus after being held in various locations in Beirut.
June 1985 - In San Salvador, El Salvador, 13 people are killed in a machine gun attack at an outdoor café, including four U.S. Marines and two American businessmen.
April 1985 - A bomb explodes in a restaurant near a U.S. air base in Madrid, Spain, killing 18, all Spaniards, and wounding 82, including 15 Americans.

The road to really educating the public about this religion and its “holy” book is a long one indeed, if even possible, considering people’s guilt and desire to be politically correct. A guilt almost tied with “white guilt”.
See, if you study and learn the qu’ran and the religion, you’ll find that there is no such thing as a liberal muslim. It’s a contradiction in terms. Those who appear to be liberal muslims fall into two categories: 1} those who (like many “lukewarm” Christians) choose to cherry-pick parts of the qu’ran to suit their comfortable (western) lives and 2) those who feel free, even compelled, to follow the command of Mohammed to lie anytime, anywhere as needed, to further the goals of Muslim world supremacy. All Muslims know that the last 2/3 of the qu’ran (call to violence and subjugate or kill all infidels) supercedes the first (peaceful) part.
I firmly believe BHO falls into the second category.
The reason I view Islam negativley is the fact that there is like a billion muslims and supposedly there is just a fraction of terroist muslims.But you never ever hear of,or heard of a strong push or protest of “moderate” muslims against terrorism in this country or anywhere else.
The silence of of muslim protest against violence and terrorism has been deafining.

Honor killings, treatment of homosexuals. I am completely against homosexuality and their agenda to make it appear normal, but I sure don’t think they should be murdered. Islam is just not compatible with freedom.

That is the bottom line, isn't it? It's not as though they're secretive about it, either. When a large group of people announces that it is their intention to kill or enslave you, it's probably wise to take them at their word.
How many Americans are aware of this? How many cable news talking heads who keep defending islam are aware of this? Do they just not care? How do we get through to Americans that islam is set to destroy all we hold dear? Every time I think of Bush saying islam is a religion of peace I could puke!

Muslims are allowed to lie. Jews & Christians are not.
Think of Islam is the evil opposite of Judeo-Christianity.
True, but my concern is that if I pick up an English translation, will the phrases that state things like "Kill the Jews ...," "kill the infidels... " be accurately translated so that they actually say that? Or will the English translation be more of a whitewash?
