NIWA is being sued by the NZ Climate Coalition, mainly due to the differences in data in this graph:
The country’s state-owned weather and atmospheric research body is being taken to court in a challenge over the accuracy of its data used to calculate global warming.
The New Zealand Climate Science Coalition said it had lodged papers with the High Court asking the court to invalidate the official temperatures record of the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (Niwa).
The lobby of climate sceptics and ACT Party have long criticised Niwa over its temperature data, which Niwa says is mainstream science and not controversial, and the raw data publicly available.
The coalition said the New Zealand Temperature Records (NZTR) were the historical base of NIWA’s advice to the Government on issues relating to climate change.
Coalition spokesman Bryan Leyland said many scientists believed although the earth had been warming for 150 years, it had not heated as much as Government archives claimed.
He said the New Zealand Meteorological Service had shown no warming during the past century but Niwa had adjusted its records to show a warming trend of 1degC. The warming figure was high and almost 50 percent above the global average, said Mr Leyland.

So if we plot Hadley from 1940 to 1980 there is no change in temperature trend. Then let’s plot satellite temp from 1978 to 1977 and that temperature trend is also basically flat.

If you look at temp this way, since 1940 – the beginning of the industrial age, the ONLY significant rise in temp was in 1998, and we all know that was due to El Nino when an enormous amount of heat was released from the ocean, and temps have been flat since.

Thanks...this Global Warming Scam is just an awful world wide scandal and needs full exposure.
Notice that although the net adjustment is actually kinda small, from +0.3deg/century to +1.0deg/century, the bulk of it comes from much more, extremely more substantial “adjustments”, DOWNWARD, in the temperatures in the early part of the graph, particularly between 1900 and 1950.
From what I have read on this general theme in the past, that type of thing - UNDERVALUING either CO2 values or temperatures purported to be present at the beginning of some time period used by a “global warming” graph/mathematical construct/computer model - is part of what started this whole scheme to begin with.

I could feel th global cooling this past few weeks, but I was studying glaciers in Alaska.
Thanks for the heads up on these issues while I was gone. Alaskans know this is all cyclic. Don’t talk about global warming. It is not in the topic list.
I did mention that Gore was lying and a couple came to his side, Again. One person said he will go down in history as a Charlotton. I will have to look that one up. It sounded derogatory. I may use it next time.
We are in that short period of time between Ice Ages when there is global warming that allows us to civilized the world almost to the Arctic and Antarctica Circle. We have a favorable orbit, favorable axis and plenty of CO2 for plant growth.
That is changing. We have lost sunspot activity and it appears that we are losing Ozone production and water vapor due to that.
The glaciers are healthy up there at the Glacier Bay Latitude. They seem to have stabilized. We may see some actual growth in 5 years.
And, these are glaciers that make it to the water line.
Others, below this point they show recession each year and they should. The last 15 years were warm years, though in the temperatures have been in decline since 1999. It think the peak winter was 2000.
So, where are we at?
As glaciers grow, C02 and Methane numbers should stabilize and then drop as they are absorbed into the glacier ice.
Congress needs to hold hearings after the elections to review the EPA, NOAA and NASA actions over the last decades to see if they have been honest, non political and if they have been under IPCC influence.

I picture the Wizard of Oz, back in Kansas, with a fresh brew of Snake Oil slowly being poured into glass vessels by the UN IPCC members.
Some how, a carnival show best describes this hoax that has been put upon us.
