Dr. Laura Schlessinger announced tonight she is ending her radio show, a week after she broadcast a five-minute-long rant in which she used the N-word 11 times.
Schlessinger said on "Larry King Live" tonight that she has decided "not to do radio anymore" so she can say the things she wants to say.
"The reason is, I want to regain my First Amendment rights," she said. "I want to be able to say what's on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I'm sort of done with that."
She told King she will not renew her contract, which expires at the end of the year. She said she told her bosses 10 minutes before she went on the air.
She was trying to make a philosophical point, she said, but added, "I didn't help her [the caller] by making that point."

I listened to a few shows. Most of the calls were a theme like:
“I want to go to my sister -in-law’s wedding but my mother-in-law hates me. What should I do?”
Lots of the responses to clueless peoples dilemnas could be answered with “get a life”
Also amazing how she could advise a major life decision on 30 seconds of background.
The N word belongs in the trash can like so many other pejorative words---but that's a choice we make. Either way, all races have the same rights so let's stop the game playing.

Eric Holder may just get that “conversation” he thought he wanted, when he dismissed 300,000,000 people as a “nation of cowards”.
Unfortunately, phrases like “What’s up my negro?” don’t quite have the same pizazz but should still earn you a fist bump or two.

The Rev. Al Sharpton weighed-in on his high horsie along with another black man whose name I didn’t catch.
Apparently, Dr. Laura has been peddling soft racial bigotry for years, according to the two aforementioned men.
I wouldn’t know. I’m neither a fan of hers nor a listener.

You are right on. I don’t use the N word. As in the case of pResident, I just simply say he is half N and half White. Yesterday when the tragic news came out of the woman who drove her car into the water to drown her two toddlers, when asked who she was I just said, “she is a N”, of course pronounced en just for clarification.
I am 75 years old and had enough of this happy crap called Politically Correct and will no longer pull punches just to satisfy those who will immediately use the race card or call me a bigot.
I see it as a form of going Galt.
Like the guy that was fired for saying “niggardly” and after the flap they offered him his job back and he said, and I paraphrase, “F*** off, niggers.”
As you can see by my post 48, I do. But I never use it in reference to black people for obvious reasons. I use it in a similar way to how I would say someone is “lazy” or a “Ne’re do well.”
That is the other meaning of the word.

I used to really like her. I still think she is one smart cookie, but it’s just not entertaining for me any more. I get the feeling the idiots that are calling her are starting to get on her nerves too. She seems to have run out of patience with them.
How about we just develope a new vocabulary ...just change the word used. I remember a gal who was trying to tell me that a certain area of the city was black. Terrified of being offensive in some way she finally said ..”It’s dark there”. I am personally sick of all this wordage that people seem to find offensive...the next thing will be the Muzzies getting their pants in another major knot because they are offended with that word...sheesh!
Well we’re called “crackers”....haven’t yet heard of any “whitey” filing suit for being called “Cracker”.
She got her doctorate in physiology not psychology, not that it really matters. You're right about commonsense, not enough people employ it in matters of their daily life. As a result they look to others to solve some of their problems.
He was one of them. They can do and say as they please. From their point of view, we can’t.
The rules of decency and laws apply to us. Not them.
We are the ones that allowed them to get where they are.
The fuss over her use of The Word A White Person Must Not Utter (or whatever to call it) is insane. She did not use it in an offensive way. It is merely a word. It is not like she beat up somebody or made false charges. If hearing this word will cause Americans to fall apart and need a psychiatrist then we should be ashamed of this nation.
Could part of the objection to her also be because she is Jewish?
One thing she says that stuck with me is that if there is not a “ring and a date,” then there really is no engagement or intent to actually marry. I’m now wise to people I know who have been “engaged” for many years yet never progress to marital commitment. They’re just hijacking the terms.
