Pakistan drowning
NY Post ^ | August 18, 2010 | Ralph Peters

Thirty-five million Americans as homeless refugees: That would be a disaster proportionate to the horrific -- and worsening -- situation in Pakistan.

This time, that forlorn country isn't threatened by Islamist terror, but by Mother Nature. Two weeks of flooding, with more rain on the way, have made refugees of 20 million Pakistanis.

Try to grasp that number. Twenty million people, overwhelmingly poor, have lost their homes, their slight "wealth" and their livelihoods. Thousands have died.

And international aid groups estimate that 3.5 million children are at mortal risk from diseases spread by polluted water and poor sanitation. Think cholera, typhoid, dysentery and common diarrhea -- the latter a killer among children in the developing world.

The Pakistani government has been mum about cholera cases, but aid workers report scattered deaths. That's how it starts.

The deluge has inundated about 100,000 square miles -- leaving thousands of hamlets, villages and towns underwater or swept away entirely. It's the worst flooding in the region in at least 80 years.

This makes Hurricane Katrina look like a thunderstorm.

What I recall most about the tsunami in Indonesia was shaking my head at the EXTREME generosity of Americans - both privately and with their tax dollars. Tons of money and aid to a population that, for the most part, would kill Americans just as soon as look at them.

I wonder - if you were to talk to the man on the street in Indonesia today, would they speak highly of America? Would they pour out their gratitude?

I recall pic of US Marine handing MREs to a muslim refugee wearing an Osama t-shirt! That about says it all.

“Amazing how often Muslim majority nations regularly get whomped by Mother Nature, isn’t it?”

Two things:

1. If the United States had the technological level of most of those nations, many of our earthquakes and other disasters would have been magnified many-fold in terms of human suffering.

2. Amazing how many Muslim majority nations have such great riches of petroleum given to them by Mother Nature, isn't it?

It is of course the will of God

Worry not for the millions. They are in Allah’s hands

Well, at least Pakistan has nuclear weapons, F-16’s, send their rich kids to American schools, and tin cups for billions in aid for it’s military and elite to rip off.

Don’t damn the everyday citizen for the sins of their political class.

The political class of countries like Pakistan and Saudi are at least marginally allied with our own government. It's the every day citizens that are out in the streets chanting death to American and signing up to be suicide bombers. This is why the concept of exporting democracy to these nations is a fool's errand. Whatever judgement comes upon Pakistan is theirs to deal with (as the coming judgement of America will be ours).

Is Allah angry?? Maybe, if it didn’t hit the Taliban area. The Taliban Mullahs will say the people who are against them have brought this upon themselves for not supporting them.

A few years back there was a huge earthquake there. Americans were the first to the scene with money, aid, supplies, food and, after we rescued the people, they pretty much spit on us by killing our soldiers and openly stating their hatred of us. We did our share, let the rest of the world come to their aid.

I don’t think Mother Nature singles out Muzzies. I just think they’re incredibly bad at responding to her attentions.

If the Pakis aren’t going to be grateful, let their fellow Muslims aid them. No point in helping people who are going to send their children to kill us.

I suggest they redirect the 100 million for the September 11th Victory Mosque to help their fellow man.

I'm sure the muzzies see the construction of the al-Osama Mosque and September 11 Victory Center as a project issued by their moon god. Their fellow vermin may die by the tens of millions, but it won't matter. It's "allah's will."

Sure is. And it’s also amazing how so much of the resulting petrodollars has ended up in the Swiss bank account of the rulers and how little of it has gone to educating the citizens and building the infrastructure of those nations.

If, instead of stealing everything they could get their oh-so pious Islamic fingers on, the leaders of the Islamic world had invested their nations’ wealth productively, they could most likely have shrugged off these disasters with relative ease.

I find it very hard to feel much in the way of sympathy for Pakistan.

There are plenty of ultra-rich Muslims that could be coming to their aid, but won’t.

Certainly not all, but enough of those “ordinary people” were amongst those dancing in the streets and celebrating when innocent people were making the horrendous decision to either be burned alive or jump to their deaths from the World Trade Center. These “ordinary people” have amongst them those who dress their babies in suicide bomber gear and commemorate the event by taking pictures of them to be used as motivation and propaganda for their future martyrdom while taking out innocent Israelis and others with them when they detonate. It’s too bad we don’t have a crystal ball to tell us which ones are which.

Yes, instead of building a mosque near the site of Muslim “victory” near the scene of the crime, why don’t they instead donate that money to their fellow Muslims inmtheir time of need?

I forget the name, but one of their former leaders said something to the effect that they would eat grass and leaves if they had to in order to become a nuclear power. Well here’s a good time to stand by that resolution.
