That’s how it was when our neighbor boy — well, not a boy, he was 24 — neighbor’s son was killed in Afghanistan. The whole town turned out, lined the streets as the funeral procession passed by.

Most all of us waved flags but in total silence. I have never heard such a complete pause.

So sad. But I think guys like him are standing in the gap for us and maybe when my boys are military age, they won’t be in a hot war.

I completely agree... standing in the gap.... I sincerely hope and pray that your guys won’t ever be put in danger.
