[Texas:]Spillover Bullet Hits UTEP
KTSM ^ | August 22, 2010 | Anthony Garcia

EL PASO - It seems spillover violence has hit the UTEP campus. At least one of the bullets from yesterday's shootout has been found in a university building tonight.

We're told the bullet struck the South door of Bell Hall, went through the glass panel and was found embedded in an office doorframe. Police believe it happened during the gunbattle in Juarez last night that caused police to shut down Paisano Dr. from Executive to Downtown.

A second bullet from last nights shootout in Juarez may have struck an El Paso car.

We first showed you this car last night, the windshield is completely shattered. Officers checked the surrounding area for injuries or property damage but nothing was found.

They say they're not sure yet if a bullet from Juarez caused the damage.

Invaders should be treated for who and what they are... enemy combatants and agents of anti-American revolution.

Spillover Bullet Hits ______(fill in blanK)
This is one problem that's consistent with Gangs all over, and just fill in the blank for any city. The problem is these gangs are all Firearm and Ammunition illiterate.

Every one of these 'stray bullets' that goes through people then a house wall, and kills some innocent kid in their bed, are those Geneva Convention 'humane bullets' -- the Full Metal Jacket round, aka, Ball Ammo.

Responsible gun owners who carry for self protection, or have that gun in the nightstand (because a cop won't fit), use Hollow Points or Self Defense rounds, aka Frangible Bullets. And a Hollow Point, or a Frangible Bullet won't cause all this collateral damage. But do Gangs know this? Yeah right. They're lucky they can tie their own shoes.

So here's one request for Gangs all over -- stop with the Ball Ammo and use Hollow Points. If you want to whack a rival scumbag gang member fine. Just make sure he's the only one that gets whacked with your bullet. Not some nine year old asleep in her bed

Oh. and learn how to hold and aim a friggen handgun. Sideways ain't it Homie.

I am aware that some manufacturers recommend FMJ rounds for better feeding, like the High Point Carbine (I own one). But these maggots aren't using High pPint Carbines when they go on a drive by or for a 'hit'.

Hate to break it to you, but a hollow point can penetrate walls and continue on for some way as well. A large minority of the time, a JHP will get some crud in the hollow point as it first hits something and then acts like a FMJ round.

And a hollow point is different from a frangible round. Frangible rounds aren’t worth squat for self defense.

When I went to UTEP, I used to park in a lot on the west side. I could look right down the hill into Juarez.

If the HP round expands as its supposed to there shouldn't be a 'through and through' like with Ball Ammo. Naturally this gets into the ballistics of the caliber used and a round's energy. Like a .308 or 7.62x39 compared to a 9mm +P.

And I know a HP is different than a Frangible. As to them not being 'worth squat' for self defense, I've seen that published lately. Like when the 'target' (bad guy) is wearing heavy or multi layers of clothes. But in summer that isn't likely. (That's also why I have more than one magazine for my pistols)

All that being said, I've also seen it said that 'only' a 12ga Shotgun is good for Self Defense. And a .45 ACP is the 'only' round good for self defense. Which really means its all a matter of personal opinion and choice .

About a week ago on a thread a Firearm Expert was quoted. He said,

'A .22 to the eye is better than amiss with a .44.
And that was really the point of my post and the gangs killing innocent people. Gang-bangers are terrible shots. They spray bullets everywhere hoping to hit the person they want to kill. And with FMJ rounds, collateral damage is more likely. (all things being equal)

I guess I shouldn’t be, but I’m surprised this isn’t getting more coverage. A foreign bullet hits a U.S. campus and nobody cares except our Attorney General and our Governor? This is absolutely not acceptable and calls for some sort of response from Washington. Oh wait, I forgot that Obama is on vacation. Maybe when he gets back....
