Please, let’s not start that pointless argument again. It doesn’t and it never did. Read the writings of its author. The fact that the court got it wrong over a hundred years ago doesn’t change why the amendment was written or how it has been twisted into something entirely different.

It doesn't matter what he said. What matters is what the ammendment says. Perhaps he screwed up. Perhaps he didn't understand the terms. It still says what it says.

But the court didn't get it wrong. It was correct. The meaning of the term long predates that court, the ammendment, or even the country.
