Houston researchers fear impact will be 'devastating'

WASHINGTON — The government will quickly appeal a court ruling that undercut federally funded embryonic stem cell research, the Obama administration declared Tuesday, but dozens of experiments aimed at fighting spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's disease and other ailments probably will stop in the meantime.

The White House and scientists said Monday's court ruling was broader than first thought because it would prohibit even the more restricted stem cell research allowed for the past decade under President George W. Bush's rules.

What a bunch of dishonest reporting.

Obama issues an executive order meant to bypass the funding restrictions on embryo-derived stem cell research, and now that a judge has said he can’t bypass the law, we’re to believe that suddenly research that has never been funded with federal money is going to be stopped? Or that federally funded research into all the stem cells not derived from embryos is now going to stop?

Gah. Reporters. Collectively, they have less brain mass and lower IQ than the typical 3 month old embryo.

Of course, they make no mention of the fact that to date embryonic stem cell research is a complete dead end. Adult stem cell researchers are coming up with all kinds of things. As usual, it's not about the science. It's all about providing a fig leaf to the leftist's support of abortion. That's all it has ever been.
