Experts say judge's injunction on using federal funds effectively halts work in labs across the country
WEDNESDAY, Aug. 25 (HealthDay News) -- U.S. scientists reacted with dismay to Monday's decision by a U.S. judge to halt any expansion of stem cell research using federal funds.
The temporary injunction, which basically blindsided the scientific community, effectively takes embryonic stem cell research back to the pre-2001 days. That was when then-President George W. Bush ordered that federal monies could only be used to fund research involving embryonic stem cell lines created before 2001.
Late Tuesday, however, the Obama administration, which had issued an executive order overturning the Bush order, said the Justice Department later this week would appeal the judge's order.

Why should people be taxed in any way for this research?
The government is like a candy store, “We’ve got plenty money, here take more, and some here, and some there!”
Socialists are so free with other people’s money, taken from citizens.

I wonder how much stem cell research is done by private vs publicly funded groups, who is making the most progress, and by embryonic or adult stem cells. Last I heard adult stem cells were proving more valuable, but I have not heard much on the rest of my musings.

Why should we be taxed as Obama pushes for an appeal of this decision?
He wants to advance this issue? Let him get the 30 pieces of silver from the death industry that will harvest fetuses for “parts”.

Obambi probably had to come out of his sand (trap) box in order to respond. LOL

Then next step if needed- he will write an executive order for whatever he wants. There is not opposition to his executive orders.

Adult stem cell research is not affected. The injunction only applies to embryonic stem cells.

Hard to understand. One of the first things he did when he took office was to allocate money to other countries for abortion. I just dont get the obsession on this. Partial birth abortion is also important to him.

The reason the EMBRYONIC stem cell issue is so important to the left is not because it “might” produce cures,
it’s because to destroy embryos in order to conduct research on the stem cells DE-HUMANIZES the embryo.
This is VERY important to those who feel the real guilt of abortion.

Research is conducted by colleges and universities. The academic and scientific researchers in these institutions are for the most part in Obama's bag.
He doesn't want to lose them, and he'll do anything to keep the grants coming no matter how immoral or amoral.
A liberal perfesser cousin of mine lived for years on grants, travelling the world on on the trail of the life of an author whose biography he was writing.....Central America, London, Paris, Malta, Greece, you named it, he and the wife spent their summers in these places on the taxpayers' dime.
Why is it any different with those in other pursuits such as science for them to live and exist on grants?
It took my cousin almost 10 years to research and write the book, get it published, then released.
I must say, the book was absolutely engrossing (the subject author was of the communist pursuasion, of course). Well, the book had better be good because I paid for some of it, LOL.
But you get my drift.

To me there is a much more sinister angle to this.
The fixation on embryonic stem cells is way too passionate and obvious, suspicious in itself because R&D into the practical use of such cells is a constant dead end, since those cells are in a state of flux, not stable and settled like the adult versions. The embryonic cells are nearly a blank slate, if you will, possibly available to be re-programmed, re-molded into something else, above and beyond from what they were originally. So, what are the proponents of embryonic stem cell research really up to? Probably not to 'fix' or 'cure' anything, but to create, from malleable raw material? Is someone or a group of someones thinking of intruding on the domain of the Creator - perhaps even thinking that they could challenge the Creator Himself? Wise fools - tampering around with things they could not possibly ever fully understand and certainly not ready for a myriad of unintended consequences they could unleash upon themselves, if not the world at large. The Bible is full of warnings regarding such foolishness, and they disregard such warnings at their peril.

Yes, creating chimeras is proscribed, and would be something the left would pursue as an affront to the Creator,
but destroying those made in His image is a more direct assault - killing God in effigy.

Aye - true both. Anti-life any way you look at it.
Where I was coming from on a base level was the duplicity they hide behind and manipulate with while trying to run it through right under our noses and the sheer arrogant intentions of fooling around in strange territories when they don't even know what the rules are. There is knowledge intended to remain as Mysteries, and for very good reason.

When George Bush withheld federal funding for embryonic stem cell research, he actually withheld federal funding for any NEW LINES of cells created after his imposed moratorium. There are embryonic stem cell lines available for research. The stealth, unspoken goal is to open up the market on chimeras and harvestable preborn human beings. Let no one be confused, this is sourced in the father of lies, a murderer from the start. Since embryonic stem cell lines are available for research, and there is not one single rerstriction on private stem cell lines, what the demonic bastards behind this are seeking to do is make taxpayers fund the furhter evil which will be allowed if the rrestrictions on embryonic stem cell line funding is ended. It is the ‘slippery slope’ writ large and not even trying to hide the ‘next step’ in the decline of humanity planned by these ghouls. Barack H. Obama is a deeply wicked man, and the people he represents in his aprty and those who worship him are sold out to wickedness yet want the rest of the world to see them as normal and enlightened.

Ditto, I mean aside from the tissue rejection issue, the threat of teratomas derived from embryonic stem cells has, to my knowledge, not been resolved. Its all about pushing the idea that a fetus or embryo is not a human. This isn`t one of my issues but if it hampers adult stem cell research then it becomes every one`s issue as thats the most imminently promising avenue we presently have.

It DE-HUMANIZES the embryo!
It is also uneconomical for that matter. It is not a cure, no stem cell therapy is genuinely a “cure’. In the case of embryonic, you sacrifice a life to essentially treat the disease temporarily. It is federally funded because companies would lose money investing extensively in it.
