Big Journalism is reporting and confirming via Major Garrett's Twitter account, he will be leaving Fox News and the WH beat to cover Congress for National Journal.
Although he will remain involved in covering politics, we've lost one of the few in the WH Press Room who is willing to press Gibb's or ask hard questions of the administration.
Fox has not named a replacement for Garrett, we can only hope they will elevate someone to the position who, like Major Garrett, will not let Gibb's off the hook.

Wonder why he did this? It doesn't sound like a step up, and I'll miss him. I could never figure our if he was a lib or a con--which means he's a pro!
Wasn't he about to get Helen Thomas's chair? Was it the smell that drove him off?

They need to replace him with Chris Wallace. They need to replace him with Sarah. Picture Sarah sitting in the front row asking questions of Gibbs. :)

More than likely it will be Wendell Goler or Mike Emmanuel.

Chris is an anchor, and not a very good one, and a horrible interviewer.
Major was the WH correspondent.

Goler was the first to pop into my mind.
It will not be a new face however. You do not walk into the press room as the WH correspondent without having paid ones dues.

Garrett got his start on a very conservative GOP channel on satellite TV run by Paul Wyreck, same with Frank Luntz.

Wonder why he did this? ... Wasn't he about to get Helen Thomas's chair? Maybe that was the deal...Fox gets the chair but Garrett had to resign...

That’s Paul Weyrich, and the satellite TV channel he founded was called National Empowerment Television, later relaunched as America’s Voice TV. It was truly a Conservative television network.

Garrett did his job well. Too bad he’s leaving FNC.

The only other person I could think of that would be even more effective would be to put Glenn Beck in the seat for a few sessions. Could you Imagine!

Go through the “call me” routine....Can’t you just picture it.....Bad Gag Bob would stutter and sputter and hm and huh , ....Not to mention if BO was there tic tic tic?
The new gal is pretty tough...She might be a good choice. Particularly since she’s AA. OR Could you imagine Meg K questioning him....... He wouldn’t even know what she said, he’d never be able to concentrate.
