So...I assume, then, our representative form of government is run by idiots who just sign stuff...OK, got it.

Never in a million years did I ever think I would be glad that Grampa and Mom are no longer alive. I used to LOVE Montana. Mom told us stories of her childhood in Conrad MT. One was very sad—how Grampa cried when the locusts destroyed the wheat crop. It would break their hearts to know that this slimebucket, Baucus, is from there.

“So...I assume, then, our representative form of government is run by idiots who just sign stuff...OK, got it.”

Yes. That is exactly right, and should not come as any surprise to anyone. Anyone, and I mean anyone could be a Senator or Congressman, or a President. What differentiates the rest of the population from those in office is that those who seek office have big enough egos, thick enough skin, and malleable enough ethics to allow them to effectively play the game.

It is essential that the stature of public officials be demoted from celebrity status. They are supposed to be public servants. it should be considered a privilege to be a public servant, not a right. All public officials, all of them including the President, should be addressed by citizens by their first name. In response, ALL public officials should be required by law to address citizens as ‘your honor’.

By taking away the ‘stature’ aspect of public office you will start selecting for those people who truly want to serve, as opposed to the narcissists we have now.

Oh, really? "[W]asting [your] time" reading bills is precisely what we hired you to do, Senator Imbecile.

No, Max, you hire special interests like unions, lobbyists etc. They may be expert compared to you, but they certainly don’t care about the best interests of the country.

Stature is one thing, but in modern times I think it is all about the Benjamin's.

If he can’t be bothered to read it, surely we can’t be bothered to comply with it.

If they didn’t read it, why do we have to obey it?

Not reading it is equivalent to taxation without representation.

Not reading it is equivalent to taxation without representation.

But, as others have pointed out, "no taxation without representation" is a slogan with no legal force.

“But, as others have pointed out, “no taxation without representation” is a slogan with no legal force.”

When the American revolutionaries spoke it, I rather doubt that at that point they were concerned with LEGAL force to implement it.
