NRA declines to endorse Reid in Nevada Senate race

Sen. Harry's Reid's support for President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nominees has cost him the endorsement of the National Rifle Association in his re-election bid. The NRA is a force in rural states like Nevada where many voters own guns and hunt. The absence of the NRA's blessing represents a setback that Reid's campaign was quick to address Friday by noting that NRA executive Wayne LaPierre once called him a "true champion of the Second Amendment." Christopher W. Cox, chairman of the NRA's Political Victory Fund, said Friday that the organization strongly opposed the confirmation of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court, and it had warned lawmakers that the NRA would weigh that vote when it came to its endorsements.

"The NRA heard loud and clear from the members..."

Yup - I'm sure I wasn't the only one to contact them about this.

I am glad, but I think they see the writing on the wall and want to be on the winning side come January.

That’s like a defacto endorsement of Reid, no support for Angle. He has $25 million and organization to throw at her.
She has RNSC spending and money their time trying to save Lisa Murkowski up in Alaska. They also gave Kirk another $3.4 million. They give tons to the moderates and big spenders so they can’t give to any or enough conservatives when they are in tight races.

4 in my family called and cancelled their memberships and we contacted a friend in Kansas who together with 19 of their friends called and cancelled their memberships.

Wish we could do the same thing with AARP members.

Where the NRA ever got the idea that Reid is “a defender of the Second Amendment” is beyond me. The guy voted for both the Brady Bill and the assault weapons ban.

This is just one reason why the NRA doesn’t get this gun owner’s money.

I have unsubscribed to very email from the NRA, stopped all donations.

I am finished with them.

The NRA was kissing Ried’s rear-end an issue or two back in the ‘American Rifleman’ when they published an article about what a 2A champion he was because he came across with some federal pork to build a shooting range in Nevada. AFAIC, the NRA has slipped more than a tooth or two on their sprocket. They should have condemned the little weasel for such blantant deception and his overwhelming anti-American record (and, thus, anti-2A).

I was always on the fence about joining, but their behavior in the litigation leading up to Heller turned me fully against them.

The NRA is great at the Washington game - so they have their uses - but if you want principled defense of the Second Amendment, you're better off giving your money to the GOA, the SAF, and the Cato Institute.

He may have once been a "true champion of the Second Amendment" but it's quite obvious he sold his ass out over the Democrat Supreme Court nominees.
