I think 2 big dogs are great . . . but then one has to have lots of stored up food for 2 big dogs . . . given coming conditions.

I pray that if Anak Krakatoa does go off, its explosion isn’t quite as powerful as Big Daddy K’s eruption in 1883. That blast was so powerful, it was heard over 3,000 miles away, on the other side of the Indian Ocean.

I found a great used book on the subject, written by Tom Simkin and Richard S. Fiske. (I see the sticker says $3!).
Lots of great historical accounts such as old newspaper clippings, coast guard reports, transmissions from a lighthouse (that quickly went dead!), old photographs and artwork. And lots of scientific studies and findings. Cool stuff.
The tsunami was the worst of it as I recall. I thought of this book during the 2004 tsunami.
In reviewing the book just now as related to sound waves, there is a section on barometric pressure readings and “marigrams” (water height). Included is the change in both in San Franciso and European contries that observed disturbances due to the eruption!

Still, though few in number they OWN IT ALL ~ you want to do business in that part of Indonesia (and I don't mean "political business") you'll have to talk to the ownership class, and the records show that to be Hokien Chinese.
BTW, with everybody speaking Bhassa these days, you might not quite pick up on the subtle signs that you are dealing with Chinese and not Malay people ~ whether there or anywhere in Indonesia and Malaysia.

I have roots in that part of the world (Sumatera Utara) that go back a long time, having lived there for years, married to an Indonesian, with in-laws and extended family cutting across several ethnic groups including Chinese.
I STILL live in Indonesia, albeit in a different part these days.
All this just to let you know that I have the ability to know who I am dealing with face to face. What I don’t know, and no one really can, is who may be controlling behind the scenes. You may have heard the term an “Ali Baba” company. Ali out front, and Baba in back.
I will say this: Bataks tend to be astute business people in their own right and on the basis of my travels in Batak country, there is precious little room for small Chinese entrepreneurs, as there is in most other parts of the country.

Hmm, they did give up headhunting quite some time ago of course ~ not like those bad boys on some of those Eastern Islands.
But that whole area across from Malaysia shows up as having an incredibly high percentage of Nam speakers ~ very old Nam in fact ~ with 8 tones!
So, you're telling me they just flat out disappeared or they don't show up in public.

Mount Sinabung in the Karo district of North Sumatra province thundered to life shortly after midnight, shooting lava and other volcanic materials from its crater.
InshaAllah mother f*ckers.
"For example, Malay-muslim communities inhabited the districts of Langkat, Binjai, Deli-Serdang, Tebing Tinggi, Asahan, Labuan Batu as well as the generally more mixed communities such as Simalungun and Pematang Siantar,
whereas the Karo district has a majority of Christian inhabitants. Unlike the discourse of East Sumatra, the plan of Protap, which is more homologous with Toba-Batak Christian as its majority, went on a quite steady progress and systematic mobilization." --

My layman’s interp of that column of quakes under the volcano look like an eruption in the prep stages. Is that a far fetched conclusion?

No not that far fetched at all...indeed think of it as that as a throat clearing event.
It does not necessarily mean that it will lead to a volcanic eruption, however the quakes are indeed being cause by intrusion of magma.
Definitely something to keep an eye on these next few months.

What’s going on with Yellowstone and New Madrid?
What’s your analysis of the NZ quake?

Noting at yellowstone....Tetons still interest me to a degree. New Madrid....some life this week but not sure what if anything that means to the big one.
New Zealand is interesting because of the potential down there for renewed volcanic activity....worth keeping an eye on!
