The fact of the matter is that capitalism and free enterprise floats a lot more voats than socialism does.
Socialism has always meant a large poverty stricken underclass that provides for the few elite leaders at the very top.
European countries are starting to realize that and that is one reason why you are seeing many revolts in Europe right now and the reason why many European countries are beginning to turn away from socialism and socialistic policies. They are starting to realize the basic fallacy that is at the heart of socialism. Furthermore, socialism is but a brief step before all out communism.

1. Get a million monkeys.
2. Get a million typewriters.

I don’t agree; the GOP is just as much about protecting vested economic interests as the DNC. One only has to look at the last half of bush’s time in office to see this.
