Cordoba Mosque Developer Tax Deadbeat
American Thinker ^ | Clarice Feldman

Posted on 08/29/2010 7:19:44 AM PDT by Rashputin

The more we learn about the developer the less likely it seems the mosque will get off the ground.

The NY Post reports that Gamal has a signficant unpaid tax bill :

Sharif El-Gamal, the leading organizer behind the mosque and community center near Ground Zero, owes $224,270.77 in back property tax on the site, city records show.

El-Gamal's company, 45 Park Place Partners, failed to pay its half-yearly bills in January and July, according to the city Finance Department.

The delinquency is a possible violation of El-Gamal's lease with Con Edison, which owns half of the proposed building site on Park Place. El-Gamal owns the other half but must pay taxes on the entire parcel.

The lease agreement, obtained by The Post, specifies that El-Gamal's company pay taxes on the property and submit receipts to Con Ed.

The utility said it would have to review any possible lease violations.

That's not the only stumbling block for the project, says the Post:

Before any building can go forward, the developers also must get approval from the MTA because the 2 and 3 subway lines run under a portion of the Park Place property, The Post has learned.

How brilliant for Bloomberg and Obama to tie themselves to a falling boulder.

Does anyone other than me think this just might be a tad of a security risk?

Could it be that the real reason for turning it into a Mosque is to avoid paying the back property taxes (and obviously future taxes)? Could the back taxes be waived because of the Mosque?

Could this all simply be about money?

The muslim victory mosque developer also has a long criminal record, including a bust for patronizing a prostitute.

Typical Mohammed Atta-style muslim:

Years before his latest real-estate project ignited an uproar, Sharif El-Gamal racked up at least seven run-ins with the law, including a bust for patronizing a prostitute.

“How brilliant for Bloomberg and Obama to tie themselves to a falling boulder.”

Indeed. And clearly for such two geniuses to have swallowed the bait hook line and sinker on this issue, the only explanation is that this whole deal is a Republican dirty trick. That’s right, the Pubs set this whole deal up knowing in advance that Obummer would snatch it up in his teeth like a rabid dog grabs a flying stick. How else to account for a Nobel Prize winner as smart as Obummer involving them self in such an imbroglio?

I’m sure that with the tiniest bit of investigation sufficient to barely scratch the surface of this scandal, it will be found that Sharif El-Gamal and Feisal Abdul Rauf are paid operatives of the Dirty Tricks Division of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. That’s right. Paid operatives. Paid by the very same folks who planted Alvin Greene. Just remember you heard it here first! (Oh yeah, and man I wish we Vast Righters really did have a Dirty Tricks Division, don’t you?)

"Could this all simply be about money?"

Hardly. This is about shoving a muslim symbol of victory down our throats and furthering sharia law in the U.S.

This is a clear case of right vs. wrong. How ANYONE can defend this development simply defies all logic.

They never had the money. The only way they will be able to build it is with public money or Saudi money.

I am no expert on NY law, but in Kansas, the property can not transfer until taxes are paid or waived.

If the Mosque is to be tax-exempt, it must obtain Title.

Absolutely it is about money. He picked the building up for a song and the market took a dump. He was originally going to make condo’s of the building. He also ownes another building setting vacant. Now he has stired up the hornets nest with a mosque. It will never be built. He does not have the talent or the money. He owes back taxes. He is broke. And foreign money will be exposed for what it is terrorist money. Just my opinion.

I can’t believe this story is only just coming out. Bloomberg is a smart guy. We may not like him, but he’s smart. Did he really not know about this?
