This article reads as if McCartney was trolling these people for a redneck trance-channeller, but didn't get the goods.

To Robert McCartney,

Andrew Breitbart said it right. "It's not your business model that s*cks. It's you that s*cks."

I read that and immediately knew this *writer* didn’t have all of his brain cells hooked up, and thus would likely have nothing important to say.

And unfortunately, to actually discuss the issues takes longer than a soundbite.

It is foolish for anyone at tea party rallies or for anyone who attended yesterday’s rally in DC to speak with the media.
The media is the enemy of this nation.....starve the beast!

When was the last time you saw congress do this? I think it all but disappeared with the centralization of the power under Pelosi and Reid.

A good diet aid is reading the comments. Plus it always reminds me that lefties are mean spirited in addition to being logic challenged.

But when pressed for evidence of such severe deterioration, they didn't offer very compelling examples. Basically, the "tea party" thinks the moderately liberal social agenda pushed by the Obama administration is just a short step away from, say, Communist East Germany.

"Moderately liberal social agenda???" East Germany was downright socially conservative compared to Obama and his supporters today!

The media takes whatever liberty they want in the absence of a Tea Party statement of their legislative program. The Tea Party may not like how they are defined but politics, like nature, abhors a vacuum. They need to define themselves with their legislative contract with America, if they can develop one.

Compelling example?

How'bout the demoralization and implosion of our financial infrastructure?

Instead, these people think our morals have sunk so low and our political leaders have become so unresponsive that the rule of law is breaking down in America.

The write for the WaPo seems to "poo-poo" the reality of this statement, but let's take a real look at it... The people currently ruling the USA (I used that term on purpose here) ARE unresponsive to the people. I don't ever remember the level of disdain for "The People" being openly shown by these rulers... I mean, we've always known that there are lots of scumbags elected to office who think their constituents are mental midgets, like Pete Stark, but when you've got Pelosi saying that if you want to know what's in the bill, it has to be passed. Or the simple way that the Obama regime has brought the Chicago thug politics to Washington... I guess they're used to it in Chicago, but the rest of the country is beginning to resist it.

"Rule of Law?" What law? This administration has shown an outright comtempt for laws, whether the laws are federal (like the "New Black Panther case) or State (like the AZ immigration law). Or the complete disregard for financial laws, like the bankruptcy laws that SHOULD HAVE protected bond holders for GM & Chrysler, but instead granted huge amounts of money to the UAW, while screwing the investors. It seems like this idiot writer for the WaPo has forgotten the "town hall" meetings that most politicians have given up on, given that they were being confronted. This writer is living in an alternate universe... Well, I guess that's a given for the vast majority of the LSM.

he moderately liberal social agenda pushed by the Obama administration is just a short step away from, say, Communist East Germany.

The fact that this writer characterizes Obama's extreme agenda as "moderate" while admitting that it's "socialist" simply makes Beck's point for him. There is an elitist cabal, including a conspiracy (yes, I'll use the word since the Journolist scandal made suspicion reality) of prominent media, to convert the free-market capitalism of traditional America into a Euro-socialist state AGAINST THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE! This article does nothing but lend credence to that viewpoint.

This kind of exaggerated thinking, encouraged by Beck, contributes to the toxic tone of contemporary political debate. It's hard to have a reasonable discussion about the proper size and role of government in a modern society with people who think 234 years of democracy is ending.

There can be little "debate" when the media cabal insists on labeling any resistance to the socialist advance as "extreme," "racist," or "toxic." And it's hard to be "reasonable" when the administration repeatedly ignores the plain facts. Democracy IS ending in this country if it continues on the path it's on. And I recall the Post saying almost that exact same thing when George Bush pushed for the Patriot Act, waterboarding, and detentions of enemy soldiers at Guantanamo.

So spare me the selective outrage, Post. Your days are as numbered as Obama's.

Right, we should let the Democrats get to the point of building ovens with "Insert Conservatives Here" signs on them before we do anything.

Exactly the sort of advice you'd get from a Brown Shirt.

Smiling takes 6.

I wonder if the writer ever heard that you can put a frog in cold water and raise the temp gradually until he is boiled to death without knowing it.. that is what is happening here..but we are not frogs ..we notice

Obama a Socialist or Marxist? Hardly. The man is corporatist, his kind springs from an unholy alliance of business oligarchy (not to be confused with free economics), syndicalist labor movements, entrench politicians/bureaucrats and so called intellectuals and academics that spout various anti-reason/anti-individual nihilism.
