Update: The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that a man confronted a student resource officer at Sullivan Central HS today. The man drew his gun on the student resource officer and he was shot by officers. Students and faculty are safe.

What is a student resource officer? I remember principals, vice-principals, school nurses and the occasional guidance counselor, but that was it back in the dark days.

A resource officer is basically a police officer that is present at the school in case something like this were to happen. Thank God that Carolyn Gudger was there! Here is a link with some more info:
