A series of bomb attacks have badly hit US troops in eastern and southern Afghanistan in the past 48 hours.
The death toll among in the Nato-led coalition has reached 484 this year and is predicted to far surpass 2009s total of 521.
SNIP
n two of the most deadly recent incidents, three Americans died in eastern Afghanistan on one bomb attack on Tuesday. Five died in a single bomb attack in the south on Monday.
Military spokesmen would not say if the bombs hit vehicles or foot patrols.
Homemade bombs using old shells or homemade explosives and hidden in roads, tracks, walls, streams and buildings have become the Talibans favoured weapon.

Sadly, I had to go to a UK newspaper to find this as Breaking News.
You have to keep in mind that neither the UK nor US papers ever report how many Taliban were killed recently. Or rarely.
Prayers for the families.
EVERY night on the news there was a death tally. Where is it now?
BO would tell you that that kind of *news* would only serve to provoke them further.
“neither the UK nor US papers ever report how many Taliban were killed recently. Or rarely.”
Frankly it does not matter, they are tens of millions of them ready to join the Talibs. Even if we kill 1000 a day, it will not make a dent.
It’s no longer the cool thing to pretend like they care.
Before 2008 there would be a couple of dozen anti-war protesters at the intersection of my town’s main streets almost 3 times a week. Most of them college losers.
Now it’s an occasional 2 or 3 60s hippies whom actually believed in what they espoused.
The kids have moved on to new toys.
Yeah....and how many churches would ring their bells for each soldier killed.....I don't hear any bells around my location now.
The local newspaper doesn’t even report military deaths in the main section of the paper. Not even when a local soldier is wounded or killed.
It appears that the professional LSM only live to serve Obama and al Qaeda.
IEDs and other explosives along roads and trails used by our troops are taking too many lives. I know our military is taking measures to counter this, but it’s hard to learn of losses among our brave, young troops.
I wonder if more overhead drones and armed drones scanning the routes could be used to spot bad guys planting the devices and killing them in the act? I know our counter measures shouldn’t be printed in the NY Times so I guess we won’t know what’s being used to lessen losses.
Prayers to the families of our brave soldiers.
THE PLACE SHOULD BE ANNIHILATED ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!!!!!

The Abocve is just news no longer reported by the MSM, because it might hurt THE DEMOCRATS...
Exactly. The hypocrisy and deceit is nauseating.
Why are American soldiers dying in a nation where old men sexually molesting young boys is a national pastime? Let’s get out. Now!
will the camera crews be there for casket photo’s?
It is here. It is in the British press. It is in the hearts of patriotic Americans.
The broadcast television channels are engaging in psyops attempting to prop up a failing regime.
Some of our friends and neighbors are over there now, and I worry about them. Obama’s Rules of Engagement are sickening, and he just won’t stop telling the Taliban that we have no intention of winning.
So, what do they have to lose?
