Oval Office gets Makeover
The Washington Times ^ | Aug. 31, 2010 | Jennifer Harper

If President Obama's visitors ever grow bored, they can always read the mottoes woven into the border of the Oval Office's new rug.

There are five of them, "of meaning to the president," around the perimeter of the rug, according to a White House spokesman, and they definitely are not from Disney. No "whistle while you work," in other words.

This is a joke, right? The wallpaper looks like it was chosen by the same person that picks her clothes.

Someone made this picture up. I didn’t think “tacky” was allowed in the White House.

Is this a photoshopped picture?

I hope so.

The Five Pillars of Islam is the term given to the five duties incumbent on every Muslim. These duties are Shahada (profession of faith), Salah (prayers), Sawm (fasting) during the month of Ramadhan, Zakat (giving of alms, specifically during Ramadan) and Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca, home of the Masjid al-Haram (The Sacred Mosque), the most famous Islamic mosque). These five practices are essential to Muslims.

How can he possibly have this quote on his rug

““Government of the People, By the People, For the People” – President Abraham Lincoln

And at what cost to taxpayers, or at least those who used to have jobs and had been taxpayers?

Here’s one of the quotes on the rug:

“The welfare of each of us is dependent fundamentally upton the welfare of all of us” (President Theodore Roosevelt).

Seems like Putin will feel at home when he visits.

Oh I agree.

It is positively boring, and looks like stuff bought at a thrift store, not even nice antiques or classy modern.

It looks like what used to be called a “Rumpus Room.”

Ugliest...decor...ever!

The flowered wallpaper is hideous!!! And the brown stripes look like some circus tent or Bedouin camel blanket!

YUCK!

Surely you jest. Surely this is photoshopped. Surely NOBODY would put up paper that gaudy in a “period” and historic room. Even if the client wanted that wallpaper, surely the decorator would have steered her elsewhere.

It looks like something used by hotels that rent
rooms by the hour.

What do you think the Democrats use it for? Remember
Monica?

Too bland. The light beige part of the rug will show wear quickly. I liked George W’s .......it was brighter and classier. Actually, the only thing I liked about Clinton’s administration was the oval office rug and decor. It was bold with the blue and red...I thought it looked dramatic and great.

Barry’s looks to have an African touch, and it looks more like a den than a formal room. Not sure if Michelle had a hand in this, because it would be so much worse than it is. It would have mismatched patterns, colors, and themes, and it would deliberately assault the senses if Michelle had designed it. The woman has no taste whatsoever. That being said, the room isn’t as bad as it could have been.

So what’s wrong with tigers and wolves painted on black velvet?
New carpet? I didn’t know that rubber backed stuff on a big roll was so popular but it sure does scream quality and the lumberyard will cut to any length you want.
